Question about Samsung Yepp YP-T9 Digital Media Player

Yeah I had exactly the same problem with the freezing on start screen.
What you need to do is a clean format of the unit.
Here's what to do:
1) Hold Menu and the A+B Button (the record button with the red circle)
2) With the device now off, connect it to your computer. You should be able to see it's profile under My Computers
3) Right click on the players icon and select full format.
4) Disconnect and restart your player. It should be working now.
The downside is that you will lose EVERYTHING on it but so far I think that's the only way of solving the issue.
This issue is most likely to be cause by a corrupt file that you have copied onto the player.

Try to reset the device.. just press and hold the MENU button and the A/B button at the same time hold it for about 5 seconds until the device turned off. Hopes this helps.
