Question about Craftsman YT 3000 42" Briggs & Stratton 21 hp Gas Powered Riding Lawn
Recently, I started the tractor and smoke was coming from the front of the engine. After looking around, I noticed that oil was seeping out from one of the welds on the muffler. I pulled the dipstick and there is definitely gas in the oil. Before this issue, we were having problems with the engine dying for no reason after it had been running for a while. I found out it was flooding because it would start again after it sat for a while. I'm guessing this is a carburetor problem, but how do I fix it?

the engine is not getting enough gas. when you hold down the primer you are bypassing this problem. to fix this simply adjust the carb's fuel screw, located on the side of carb, a little at a time until runs smoothly.

Sounds like you have dirt in your float bowl or your float needle and seat are worn out. Pull off the float bowl and look for contamination, remove the float and see if it is full of gas (it should NOT be) and check the float needle to see if it is grooved, cracked or badly worn. Be sure you change your oil as it has gas in it!!!

SOURCE: I have a 7 year
I have a Craftsman mower. Last year I had a similar problem with the mower stopping after running awhile. I noticed that the plastic gas tank was collapsing. The next time it began to stall, I immediately loosened the gas cap and it didn't stall. The vent holes in the cap had plugged up. Check this out.
I can't help you locate the fuel leak, although it sounds like the carburetor float is not stopping gas from flowing into the carburetor.
