The unit probably has rubber belts, like mini fan belts that can stretch and wear out. I had a similar problem with a TEAC dual cassette. Good luck finding the parts.

SOURCE: high-pitched sound when using surround sound

I had the same problem, check your wires on the back of the tv and make sure your, red, yellow and white wires are in the correct holes. What kind of tv do you have, as I have an Ilo, and it has like 15 different plugs in the back, you may have to get you book out and make sure you have it in the correct hole on the back of the tv... I hope this helps....

SOURCE: Philips Home Theater - Annoying high pitch sound while on standby

I have the same problem with the same model, so obviously it's not a single-unit problem. My only solution, since taking it back isn't feasible at this point, is to have a DVD on play-pause so that it's not on standby. Waste of energy, so I don't do it all the time, only when I'm sitting in the room late at night making the high-pitched noise hard to ignore.

Google the model number to see if you can find a "power cord" but it should be generic enough some electronics shops will have one.

The tape plays songs so fast sounds like donald duck. The speed the tape is feeding is to fast.

Hi, the casette deck has a mechanical system (servo-driver) most of the problems that happen when in your case, plays song so fast is that you look at the pinch roller. The pinch roller is a rubberized free spinning wheel typically used to press magnetic tape against a capstan shaft in order to create friction necessary to drive the tape along the magnetic heads with a normal tape speed if the pinch roller brakes, get lost from his place or got dirty then you get this fast sounds play, check the pinch roller if still good in his place or clean his rubber with alcohol, then the problem should be fixed.

1991 Ford 350 truck, in dash cassette player high pitch noise

Hi rayc

sounds like the motor that pulls the tape mechanism is probably about to give problems and is getting electronically noisy. The cb may need to hooked up some where else to power so you get away from dirty power as well as maybe move the cb farther away from the tape player. hope this helps.

Sony Walkman cassette tape player operating at slower speed

If this is the WMD6C then it is servo locked and can be fine tuned with the pitch control on the back of the unit just turn the switch to on then adjust to preferred speed.

Hi musicman

Anything you recorded with the old belt/c90 may have been recorded slow, so now that you have replaced the belt, it will play back fast. Couple of questions that may help sort things totally for you...
  1. How do recordings you have made since changing the belt sound.
  2. does the pitch control pot have any effect at all?
  3. what is the pinch roller condition like-it should be nice and flat with no raised bits across its width.
If the pinch roller is worn, you may have poor speed regulation problems with the unit and it will need to be replaced. I have fixed heaps of these over the years and not had any pitch pots fail. If it has issues, it may just need a careful squirt of CRC 2-26 into it to clean up its action a bit. Disconnecting it may well cause the unit to run flat out or at low speed so I Don't recommend that. These days, any metal or chrome tape(high bias) you can get will do, tape is getting hard to find :) Normal bias will not sound as good, and you may get some bleed problems between channels. Dont be too concerned about it being a 60 but I Dont recommend a 90 as the tape starts to get real thin, and pinch roller control(speed regulation) becomes an issue. This may even be affecting you here. Happy to talk it up further with you. A FixYa is an excellent reward for my efforts to help you out. Cheers

robotek
