Question about Pioneer VSX1020K Receiver

1 Answer

I have no sound coming from surround speakers and sub.

I have two Klipsch RB-10 bookshelf speakers as my fronts, and two outdoor speakers hooked into the surround back, which have worked fine for a year now. I have recently hooked in two in ceiling speakers as my surrounds, and a sub woofer. The Full Auto set up recognizes all speakers, and tests are successfully completed. Although when listening of watching something afterwards I get no sound from the in ceiling or sub. Tried trouble shooting everything the manual had to offer, and still nothing. Ideas are welcomed, as this is just aggravating.

Some surround modes switch speakers on or off as required. It's possible that the inputs you are using have settings that remember your previous settings, ie: no sub and surround speakers. Check the inputs and also make certain that whatever is connected to them is putting out Dolby signals.

try turning the unit off in standby mode then hold down the enter button and then the power button for about 10m seconds that should reset the unit depending on how new the unit is it sometimes has a digital saftey setting but i doubt that would cause it to do what you are saying

SOURCE: pioneer vsx-519 no sound from center and surround

Make sure that the sound field/programme you have selected is dolby digital not stereo.(On the amp)
You also need to check on the display that is says DIGITAL not ANOLOUGE, as only a digital input, Optical fibre cable, HDMI, COAX will be a digital signal.
If you are using red and white rca connectors, it is not going to work, as this is an Anolouge signal.

SOURCE: pioneer receiver vsx-d510 sub not working

Rear Surrounds are not supported on this unit, they would be the 6th and 7th channels in a 7.1 rig. I think you mean Surrounds (channels 4 and 5 in a 5.1 rig).

Lets ponder: How is there any relationship between Surrounds and your separately-amplified Subwoofer? I don't see it, unless you inadvertently chose OFF for the Sub definition when you were in the Speaker selection menus adding the Surrounds. Look again.

I have a Pioneer VSX 823 - K, and when I hook up my Klipsch HG-12 300 watt subwoofer to it, the receiver is prone to overheating or just shutting off with too much bass. Is there a fix to this?

This is receiver thermal going in protect issue and has no bearing to your sub, The sub has its own power amp and not supplied by the receiver. Thermal module may be bad. See a tech.

Pioneer VSX 1020K - Zone 2 Setup

I referred to a similar zone 2 arrangement for a Yamaha receiver. It shows a separate amplifier and notes that only analog signals are sent to zone 2. The analog output from a source must be connected to the analog input on your Pioneer unit for zone 2 to work. Your outdoor music environment will be limited to left and right front speakers and...alas...no surround

I just bought a receiver, Turntable, and bookshelf speakers. Everything got hooked up but I have serious distortion coming from the speakers. Did I hook it up wrong? What could cause this and how should I...

Distortion using which source(s)? Keep in mind a turntable is basically a microphone for room-born vibrations and loud sounds so it may create feedback. And a TT without an onboard Phono preamp will require connect to one in your electronics. It will be labeled explicitly "PHONO" and only a TT should use it.

Fill in all the make and model details and how you have it connected.

I have the klipsch sub-10 subwoofer, making noise after use

it sounds like the sub is rubbing in the voice coil.
put the speaker in upside down to what it was before.
sometimes that extra bit of downward pull is enough to offset the error.
There are speaker reconing experts out there but it is cheaper to replace the sub itself.
the sub can be replaced for sure.

Creating a surround sound system

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand should work more than OK. Even if the 520 is only pushing 75watts per channel, you have 2 X for the front KSB-2.1 (left & right) plus another 75 for the Polk Audio center in addition to 250watts built-in amp of the Velodyne CT-150. What would be better is another pair of KSB-2.1 or comparable for the surround (another 2 X 75 and widening the separation).

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

its all about impedance matching...did you check to see that the new yamahas would drive from the system, before installing them? sounds like you will need to possibly add a matching transformer or other device on this one.
