Question about Mitsubishi VS-6043 60" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Picture and Color Diminishing

I just inherited a Mitsubishi 6043A and it has a couple of problems. Initially, the picture was OK but had vertical bars that appeared to move down the screen (not too distracting, but noticeable). Also, it sometimes powers up without picture. I can hear sound, but the screen stays black. Turning the TV off then back on usually fixes this problem. It happens when the DVD player is on before the TV. Today, the picture lost most color, and appears sepia. It seems like a loss of blue. Any idea on repair costs or ease for DIY?

To be honest, your bulb probably went out if you're missing colors, or they are slowly burning out. I'd say check behind your screen while it's on. If that's the case, those are usually 100 bucks a piece. I've said this on many problems so far, but if that's not the case it's most likely the color "tubes" in the back out of wack. There's a way to adjust it from the remote but if you can't get it back to normal they may need replacement which is very expensive. I'd say if it comes to it, get it checked (usually 20-50$ for a house call estimate) and if it seems like to much, search around your local want ad for one with a broken screen or something and just use your parts in a different TV. (www.criagslist.org is usually a good place to look)

No picture. Just a thin horizontal band of light running through the center of TV.

HI,
Your tv has problem with its vertical scanning side. vertical scanning output ic (integrated circuit ) may have some problem ( faulty or dry soldering in its leads). You can easily find out the vertical ic on your tv. there will be four wire coming from the coil which is fitted on the picture tube neck, of which 2 will goto horizontal scanning section and the remaining two will go to vertical scanning section. just follow the two thin wire (normally in color green and yellow ). it will goto a socket on the main board. follow the track on the board. it will lead u to vertical scanning section. check for any dry soldering, if not , replace the ic.
ok

Mitsubishi VS 50707 ( not 705)

I have the same TV built in 99. My problem is similar but the vertical hold gives out when the tv warms up about 5 minutes. I will attempt to locate the vertical hold circuit and replace any parts I suspects may be the problem. I suspect a cap is leaking or transitor around IC700 is degrading when warm.
