Price is R19k per unit (fixed). firm expected to function @ 1 000 units to be manufactured. total fixed cost is R10m; total variable cost is R14m. Calc. operating breakeven point in rand terms.

first step - work out variable cost per unit manufactured -
14 million divided by 1000 = 14 k cost per unit
.1000 units - fixed cost / 1000 units = 10 k per unit
to break even R24 k per unit based on 1000 units being made

To break even based on R19K as sale price
(R14K * x +R10K) = 19k * x
14Kx+R10k=19Kx
R10k=R5Kx
x=R10k/5K
x=2000 units required if sale price is R19k to break even

How much will it cost to replace the coil in my unit it is only 8 years old

We just had to throw a split system unit out and replace it because the coil leaked. Cost $1670. This was because spare parts were no longer available, the mandated refrigerant had changed and the old unit was incompatible etc etc

So if you can get a quote for repair at all, compare it with the cost of a new unit for which you will have warranty. In the A/C industry labour costs are high, and new units are relatively cheaper to install. Make them include removal of the broken unit.

Sharp portable air conditioner

If the unit wont cool then its more cost effective to replace the unit. Mostly it'll cost as much or a little less than a new unit for repairs

I have portable dvd player and the glass is cracked. can this be replaced

The panel is the most expensive portion of the unit and typically will cost more than a replacement unit. Technically, yes it can be replaced. Practically, it is not feasible due to cost. Replace the unit with a new one, it will cost less.

Refrigerator and freezer not cooling cleaned everthing underneath and around compresser fans all running .

Hello Earnedit03,

I understand that you are having a problem with you refrigerator not cooling at all. However, all of the mechanics are working properly. This issue will be a freon leak, this is not a DIY project as you must recover any freon (refrigerant), pull the unit down, find the leak and patch, and recharge the unit.

Is the unit worth repairing? You should call around and see what the cost of repair wil cost in your area. If the cost is above half the cost of a new unit, you are better off replacing than repairing.

Ultimately the choice is your as to what to do at this point.

Thank you for choosing FIxYa.com

Totally not working for our upstairs. The upstairs same unit work

You did not say what the problem was diagnosed as but I suspect that your service technician is going to change the compressor and dryer. This unit even only 7 years old is a R22 unit which cannot be sold anymore. It is also only 10 SEER where new models are a minimum of 13 SEER (produces 13 Btu's per kilowatt). If you installed a new unit the coil in the duct will need to be replaced along with the outside condenser. If the cost of a new one is $1000 or less over the cost of repair, I would go with a new system.

How do I use the Cost/Sell/Margin function on my Canon P100-DH 2 desktop printing calculator? Please for the love of god help me.

Cost/Sell / Margin can be very confusing it uses the following Account formulas (For Cost = Selling price - ( Selling price / Markup) For Sell = Selling Price =Cost / (1-Margin%))

It is not a pure percentage. Please respond back if you have any other questions.
