You may download a copy of the manual at http://www.repeater-builder.com/uniden/pdf/uniden-bearcat-bc210xl-owners-man.pdf. Programming instructions are on page 7.

The Bearcat 210 was the best of it's kind when it was introduced. Simply go manually to the channel you want to program, enter the frequency, then program, and then scan, and it should be in the scan rotation. Go to the manual if you want, but it's pretty easy to program. Make sure your frequency in within the range of the radio, and it must be ANALOG radio. This will NOT do DIGITAL radio and will not do 800MHz radios.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

I couldn't locate the manual for your scanner, but it's basically the same as the BC860XLT, except that the 860 has 100 channels. Other than that, all controls and functions are the same. You can download and print the manual for the 860 here:

SOURCE: programing for uniden bearcat scanner bc 144xl

danval, I looked up a pic of your scanner and it is pretty straightforward. If it is the 16 channel I was looking at, here is the step by step programming.
1- Push manual button to go to the channel you want to start programming.
2- Enter the freq number in.
3- Push the E button to enter it in the memory.
4- To review what you programmed, push the Review button.
5- Use manual button to step to next channel and start over from #2
That should get you started with the scanning hobby.
The scanner has a Priority button that when activated will stop scanning and go immediatly to the priority channel if someone keys their mic.
If you need freq's (or more of) for your area, go here and click on your state and county and it'll give you a complete listing.

The 210XL and the 210XLT are nearly identical except for the number of channels, so the 210XL manual should answer any questions you have. You can download and print the manual, at no cost, here:

Speaker hum in Bearcat 210XL Scanner.

Nice old scanner, key word is old. Probably an electrolytic capacitor in the power supply is dried-up and needs replacement. Do you get the hum if you operate the radio off of 12VDC?

Do they still sell Bearcat 210xl scanner My Dad purchased it back in Oct of 1980... The Seriel Number on it is 4149 Do you know what he would have paid for it back then. Thanks.

They have updated this model many times, so no, they don't sell it anymore. In the '80's he would have paid about $50 for it new. Current value is about $30 or so ....
