Question about Pioneer DEH-P6900UB CD Player

1 Answer

Pioneer DEH-P6900UB Hello, I've just installed the DEH-P6900UB and I'm unable to get the motorized faceplate to open to install CD's. I've read the manual and all that's stated is to press OPEN to engage the faceplate. This is my second DEH-P6900UB unit that has done this. I returned the first thinking it was defective however, it seems I may be overlooking something. The installation is fine and nothing I see prevents the face plate from opening and being lowered. The faceplate itself can be removed but unit doesn't open to expose CD slot. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello,
Your reply is appreciated, thank you. I did make sure both red(ignition switch) & yellow(constant 12 V supply)wires are connected. When OPEN is pressed I can hear the faceplate working but doesent extend. I also checked to make sure the screws used to attach unit to factory brackets weren't to long as to interfere with anything. There is a RESET button, which I used only after trying the OPEN button first. The RESET button seems to just put settings back to factory. However, on page 8 in the Operation Manual it gives guide lines when the RESET button should be used (prior to using this unit for the first time after installation, if unit fails to operate properly). I've included links to the Operation Manual & Installation Manual for a better understanding of the unit and functions. Again, thank you for taking the time to assist me.

Will I uncoverd the problem. It was the factory brackets were to tightly screwed into the sides of the unit, which I guess compressed the motorized faceplate, causing it not to expand fully. Thanks again for your assistance.

Make sure that you have power not only to the red wire but also the yellow wire... one is battery power the othe ris ignition on power. If it only is getting one power it might not think the ignition key is on.. also maks sure there is not a reset button somewhere that you can press with a pen...

Sometimes the mechanism is misplaced, just disassemble that mechanism and turn on radio without the secondary plate and wait until the motor to get to the final position when it turns off again, reassemble.

Pioneer DEH-P6900UB iPod Control

My suggestion is that the ipod-connector is bad. Try changing the ipod connector. If that doesn't work, unplug your Pioneer device for 24 hours, and then plug it back in. This will reset all the configuration options and should reset the devices that it recognizes. If that doesn't work, try calling Pioneer's support.

Good luck!

Did you format it while connected to a PC? If so check that you didn't format as NTFS, the Pioneer HU can only read FAT32 I think.
