There are many causes for the freezes all of which I have found so far to be operator error. Except for the firmware upgrade. Follow all manufacturers instructions for resets and reinstalls (read throughly before proceeding) and all will be well again. We have 2 sleek photos I found the users to main the problem (2-teenages). Corrupt files (pics & audio)cause freezes. Find them and delete them. Regular cleanup from the utilities menu)helps alot these units are mini-computers but they do not multitask well- cant push them.

My Creative zen Sleek Photo is frozen

Hi,

Initially, would suspect that the hang or froze. A couple of ideas that you can try:
double check that the unit is fully charged;
  • do a rest. There would be a reset button inside a small hole, you can use a dull pin, straightened paperclip or even a toothpick;
  • verify that the "Hold" is disable/disengaged;
  • access the Recovery Mode. Press and hold the Play/Pause button while doing the reset as above described;
  • there would be several options. You can try all except Reload OS/Firmware;
  1. Clean Up is scans and remove invalid music library;
  2. Format (All) erases everything saved;
  3. Reload OS/Firmware would be a last resort;
  4. Reboot will restart the device.
  • Should it be a battery issue that will not hold a decent charge, you can replace it. Pls follow instructions from here;
  • If all else fails, reload the firmware. Pls reference the Creative website for instruction and latest update.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Zen frozen on one screen even after I've restarted it.

hard drive sounds bad. has it been dropped?
try to do a cleanup
  1. Detach the Zen player from your PC , and ensure that the Zen Sleek is turned off.
2. Connect the power supply to the player.
3. Hold down the Play/Pause button while inserting a paper clip into the Reset hole
underneath your player, beside the data/power connector. Keep on holding the
Play/Pause button while you release the Reset button. The Rescue Mode screen will
then appear.
4. After the recovery mode has started, release the Play/Pause button

It will display the following options.
Clean Up Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.
Does not affect music files themselves.
Format (All) Caution! Erases all content!
Save a copy of your player's content before formatting.
Reload OS/ Firmware Caution! Erases your player's firmware.
DO NOT select the Reload Firmware option unless you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install.
Reboot Reboots the device.

Been frozen for about a week

You have to hit the reset button. You stick the end of a small paperclip or even the wire part from those garbage bag twist-ties into the reset button which is the hole on the bottom of the player. As you push the paperclip into hole you must hold down the PLAY button. This should put it into the Recovery screen or else it will just say "Rebuilding Library". If it goes into the Recovery screen you select CLEANUP and then YES. After it goes through cleanup which can take forever then it will will usually reboot on its own or if it goes back to recovery screen hit REBOOT after you have done CLEANUP.

Zen sleek frozen after trying to delete songs

Why does technology make you work for what you already paid good money for? Have you tried going into Recovery Mode? You do this by holding down the Play/Pause button while triggering the Reset button. Once there, you have four options. Try selecting Disk Cleanup and then Reboot. You might need to re-Sync a few things but it's worth a shot. Good luck.
