Question about John Deere Gx75 Rx75 Srx75 Sx75 130 9hp Starter
I have a John Deere RX75 riding mower that i just put a new starter motor in.All terminals have been cleaned at the battery, solenoid, starter, and ground wire. The solenoid is remote from the starter so i connected a short positive cable from the solenoid terminal to the starter and the battery positive cable to the other solenoid terminal connection.I have a diagram from a John Deere parts catalog that shows the cable connecting from the solenoid to the starter as being correct and i assumed the connection from the battery to the other solenoid terminal is correct. The diagram that i have does not show the third eyelet connection and to which solenoid terminal it connects to.Do you know if it goes to the battery terminal or the terminal that goes to the starter ?I was waiting for two weeks for some parts and should of marked the wires instead of leaving it to memory! Thank You!

I usually fix electrical problems by process of elimination. Disconnect the wires attached to generator and touch the battery cable to the battery if it still arcs disconnect the regulator. continue until you find whats pulling current from the battery.

SOURCE: John Deere Lt 166 ride on mower
jd lt 166 has 5 different decks
3 of which have the same belt routing
1st the belt needs to be adjusted correctly to stop it from "slacking off"
then on most decks the belt is routed in between the 2 small idler pulleys and then to the engine pulley
so let me know the deck i.e. 36", 42 ", 46", 48"
different belt sizes also

Purple wire goes to the solenoid on starter. If you installed starter with single wire post all you have to do is mount a solenoid to the frame just in front of starter, existing batt/starter cable goes to one solenoid post, purchase a short red cable and install on other solenoid post and run it to the starter, plug purple wire into new solenoid and the way you go.
