SOURCE: 1991 bayliner capri wiring schematics/ owners manual?

West Marine has a lot of compatible aftermarket parts. The wiring diagram for that boat will be hard to come by. If you buy a signal tracer at Lowes or Home Depot, you should be able to backtrace the power source from one of the wiring leads where the old connectors plugged in.

A place around Detroit, called "HELM" publishing can sometimes supply new books for a very high fee. Fortunately Bayliner is still in business and may be able to help you. Just do some web browsing for there contact info.

How to replace the bilge pump on a 1988 Bayliner

Turn off the power to the pump. access the pump and disconnect the mounting bracket then the hose and electrical wires will be much easier to remove .Be sure to mark the wires. Installation is the reverse of the removal steps. Its a very simple job half hour, not including cleaning time in the bilge if necessary. Hope this helps Mike

My bayliner 2455 1988 model leaks in the front of the boat.

Could be a broken bilge pump. You can find some answers on the boating forum.

How do i winterize a 1990 4387 bayliner motor yacht

Yes--- it involves finding EVERY drain plug in the engine and exhaust system, running some preserver oil thru the engine JUST as it runs out of gas and mixing the right amount of gas preserver to last the winter. THEN there is the fresh water system which needs a non poisonous antifreeze and proper draining along with the black and grey water tanks being serviced. If it has a hot water system, it needs to be drained.

Then there is the trailer bearings which will be full of water if you are going to store on the hard they will be full of water from the retrieval (don't get be started on bearing buddies) No body knows how to use them properly.

Oh ya- you need to service the lower unit for leaks and new oil, and check the u-joint boot for water and bad U-joints and grease the intermediate bearing.

But don't forget the drain plug or all this work will be for nothing as you will find a boat full or rainwater and a bent trailer.

Need to change steering unit 1987 Bayliner cuddy

I have a 1988 Bayliner with Power Steering. If you are asking about removing the steering parts on the transom, they are just like a Rack and Pinion.

You want to turn the steering to shorten the rod and drive it back into the case. Then you will unbolt the case from the transom and the motor.

The hydraulic hoses are another challenge. You want to remove as much fluid from the steering pump as possible. Leave the fluid coolers alone and just uncouple the hoses at the steering case on the transom.
You want to BE PREPARED to cap the ends of the hoses and raise them as high upwards as you can keep them.

The steering case will then drop fluid. In an ideal situation you would have plugs to close the holes the hoses are removed from. A bucket to catch the fluid and plenty of rags to keep the fluid out of the bilge is about all you can do. You may get lucky and be able to wrap plastic wrap around the steering case to seal off the leaks.

You reinstall and then bleed the air out of the system by steering lock to lock a few times.
