Hi, ive got an Acer Aspire. When i put a disk into the drive it makes this werid sound, not a beeping but just err err err. and nothing happens to the disk. Nothing wiill start when and after i insert the...

This indicates that you media (CD/DVD) cannot be read/is not recognised by your notebook drive: to make sure that you have a working drive, try inserting a know good CD/DVD. If this works, then you may have a compatibilty issue either because of the media used (eg. brand especially with Rewitable device) or the format of the data on your media (is your drive capable or reading both CD and DVD). You can assess the compatibility issue by using another computer/notebook to try to read your media.
Hope it helps: let me know how you go and good luck!

If your dvd/cd drive is not working, then you can boot up using USB. I'll give you a link, helping on that. Or you've to replace your drive. but first, clean the lens of the drive and check if its wokring. If not, you've to replace it

Hello.. i have an acer aspire 5536 my dvd/Cd drive is not wokring , it does not let me burn things or upload things onto my computer.. my computer does not find tht DVD drive.. how can i fix this i think i...

Hello ali5867,

You can check if you have a DVD connected to your laptop by simply going to your My Computer.

If you can't see your DVD rom on there, you can go to your Device Manager to double check.

You can go to your Device Manager by clicking on the Start Menu button, then drag your mouse pointer to your My Computer icon then right click on it.

Choose Properties then click on the Hardware tab. You can find the DVD/CDROM Drives.

If it's still not there, you may need to call Aspire to see how you can go about with it.

As far as burning data to your DVD or ripping data off from it, you will need a burning software for that.

You will need to get a copy of Nero. That's what I use to burn data to my DVD or rip data from your DVD to your laptop.

Hope this helps.
