SOURCE: Input selector on my Yamaha RX-V596 stuck

Hi Dush

Sounds like the processor has locked up in the unit. Try powering it right down from the wall socket for a day to reset, and then retry operation. If that does not work, leave it disconnected for about 10 days to erase backup memory completely and then try again. Good luck. Don't forget to give me a "FixYa" rating if this works. If it doesn't, get back to me in here and we can talk more about it.

SOURCE: Audio Receiver Video selector problem

Hi jmiglio48

Most high end Yamaha s used Alps devices for switching and attenuation. The problem you face is probably caused by a noisy switch contact. They are a little hard to get into to contact clean, I have managed to spray the internals of this type of switch before by using a pin vice with a 1mm drill to bore small holes into each bank to get access to the switch contacts and then spray internals with contact cleaner/lubricant. As the switch is hermetically sealed, they are considered to be more a replaceable part. I suggest you do an inquiry with a Yamaha service agent in your locality to see if a new switch assembly can be sourced. I have replaced one here in Australia before(cost about $120 for the part), but current availability will depend on where you are located. If you need a hand to track one down, get back to me in here. Hope this helps you anyways. Good luck, a FixYa rating for this info will help my profile. Cheers

regards
Graeme

SOURCE: Function Selector Bypasses Input Sources

Hopefully this post isn't too late... That receiver has the ability to disable certain inputs. The easiest thing to try is to do a factory reset.
1. Turn off the receiver
2. Hold down DISPLAY and PANEL UP/DOWN buttons and press power.
3. All Clear should appear on the screen.

Unfortunately, this clears out all of the other settings on your unit. It should, however, re-enable the inputs.

Let me know if this helps!

Why wont my 2001 ford windstar blow out of vents ? only on defrost?

Air Flow Control
Air flow control is accomplished in the following manner:
  • Primary control is through the function selector knob , mounted on the heater function selector switch, which is part of the heater control .
  • The function selector knob has the following positions: OFF, PANEL, PANEL/FLOOR, FLOOR, FLOOR/DEFROST and DEFROST.
  • The heater function selector switch combines a vacuum selector valve with an internal electrical switch.
  • The vacuum selector valve directs source vacuum to various vacuum control motors (18A318) . Refer to the System Airflow Schematic and Vacuum Control Charts.
  • An internal single-pole electrical switch is also controlled by the selector. The switch controls the electrical supply to the heater blower motor switch (18578) .
  • The position of the function selector knob determines the manner in which the system will operate.
  • Each position of the function selector knob is detented for positive engagement.
  • You probably have a vacuum leak , Pull heater control panel an check for vacuum . A broke vacuum hose or The vacuum selector valve is bad ! Or check for a vacuum hose in the engine compartment being off somewhere !

Air Flow Control
Air flow control is accomplished in the following manner:
  • Primary control is through the function selector knob mounted on the A/C-heater function selector switch, which is part of the integrated control panel.
  • The function selector knob has the following positions: OFF, MAX A/C, A/C, PANEL, PANEL/FLOOR, FLOOR, FLOOR/DEFROST and DEFROST. The A/C-heater function selector switch combines a vacuum selector valve with an internal electrical switch.
  • The vacuum selector valve directs source vacuum to various vacuum control motors (18A318). Refer to the Vacuum Control Diagram , System Airflow Schematics and Vacuum Control Chart .
  • Two internal, single-pole electrical switches are also controlled by the A/C-heater function selector switch. The combination of these electrical switches controls the electrical supply to the A/C clutch and heater blower motor switch (18578).
  • The position of the function selector knob determines the manner in which the system will operate.
  • Each position of the function selector knob is detented for positive engagement.
  • Vacuum Control Motors The vacuum control motors (18A318):
    • are located on the A/C evaporator housing, A/C recirculation air duct and heater air plenum chamber (18471).
    • direct system airflow to the vehicle interior as determined by the remote climate control module or manual override.
    • The five-passenger seating configuration has an additional vacuum control motor mounted on the heater air plenum chamber to control airflow to the rear seat A/C register (19893).

hi,if the function selector of your audiovox is an manual selector switch you need to clean the contacts of it by spraying it with a contact cleaner (windex) spray the cleaner directly to the contact of switch then rotate the switch repeatedly until contact is clean be sure to unplug the unit before applying the cleaner.you need to open the cover of your machine to be able to access the function switch..good luck!

How do I get it to record a voice?

Many portable 'boombox' recorders do not include a microphone for recording ambient sound, but can only record from one internal source to another, like radio or CD to Cassettte. Some do include an input jack for microphones or other audio sources, but you'll need to check your device's specs/ports to be sure.

My cb cobra 29 ltd problem is channel 1 is ok but channel 2 not receive

Did you have someone get on channel 2 to see??? Maybe channel 2 was quiet and channel one had better receive or noise.. You never know until you check it with another radio. That is NOT a common issue at all on those radios. Better off doing that test.

Hi. my YAMAHA DSP-A1000, works well only the input selector does not to select. its all static noise and does not seem to lock onto an mode. i have to use the tape 2 monitor to hear music.

The INPUT SELECTOR is defective. Order part number VT148000; it costs $51.04. As of 14 Jan 2011, the part is on backorder until the later part of Feb 2011.

Register online to order the part yourself, or you can place your order by phone at the Yamaha Parts Department at (714) 522-9011 or (888) 892-6242, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 5:00 pm PDT.

https://www.yamaha24x7.com/yamahaoms/QuickOrder.aspx

I hope this post also clarifies the problem from the posts above.

IMPORTANT: After installing the new Input Selector switch, place the knob at 1230 position (between LD and DAT/Tape 1) BEFORE turning the unit ON. The Yamaha Tech said this procedure ensures the input source is properly programmed and aligned.

In line eq

The EQ is probably 2-channel so maybe we need to consider what you COULD accomplish with it even if you could use it. Whatever it does to the analog source material will affect all of your speakers if you use simulated surround modes. BTW, I use an old analog EQ myself but not for room correction purposes, mostly for recording. My receiver has an single explicit Tape Mon function through which I have a dbx 224x Program Route Selector and a mess of analog sound processing devices plus a CD-R but using just the one Monitor. I'd still go ahead if I were you.

Of your MD/Tape; CD-R; VCR 1 or 2 connectors, I would think one of them would probably funtion mostly like a Tape Mon as you understand it.

The manual leads me to advise that you DO NOT connect anything digital to the Digital Inputs that correspond to your chosen EQ loop. It's due to some automation that prefers a digital signal over an analog one. Should you be taping something and suddenly turn on any digital input corresponding to your analog one the unit would probably switch sources on you.

I think you understand what Tape Mon is all and how it should act so I'd say try the various analog inputs that have INs & OUTs to see how they work. I'd tune an FM station and hook up the EQ then and see if selecting its function kills the FM audio. I'm really surprised the manual doesn't discuss Monitoring a recording.

Page 12 in the manual has a number of warnings regarding keeping things turned ON if you use these connectors for recording.

Good luck.
