Question about Audio Players & Recorders
Selector knob for various functions (Tape, radio, CD etc) is dirty and channels cut out. What's the part number so I can order a new one?

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

Sounds like the processor has locked up in the unit. Try powering it right down from the wall socket for a day to reset, and then retry operation. If that does not work, leave it disconnected for about 10 days to erase backup memory completely and then try again. Good luck. Don't forget to give me a "FixYa" rating if this works. If it doesn't, get back to me in here and we can talk more about it.

Most high end Yamaha s used Alps devices for switching and attenuation. The problem you face is probably caused by a noisy switch contact. They are a little hard to get into to contact clean, I have managed to spray the internals of this type of switch before by using a pin vice with a 1mm drill to bore small holes into each bank to get access to the switch contacts and then spray internals with contact cleaner/lubricant. As the switch is hermetically sealed, they are considered to be more a replaceable part. I suggest you do an inquiry with a Yamaha service agent in your locality to see if a new switch assembly can be sourced. I have replaced one here in Australia before(cost about $120 for the part), but current availability will depend on where you are located. If you need a hand to track one down, get back to me in here. Hope this helps you anyways. Good luck, a FixYa rating for this info will help my profile. Cheers

Hopefully this post isn't too late... That receiver has the ability to disable certain inputs. The easiest thing to try is to do a factory reset.
1. Turn off the receiver
2. Hold down DISPLAY and PANEL UP/DOWN buttons and press power.
3. All Clear should appear on the screen.
Unfortunately, this clears out all of the other settings on your unit. It should, however, re-enable the inputs.
Let me know if this helps!
