Can record/playback approximately 75% of disk, then will suddenly flash error message and stop. Only happens when I am recording or playing back a disk I have recorded.
Started out freezing while playing a brand new purchased, prerecorded disk. I used a lens cleaner, as I had about 10+ hours of use. Still get freezing and skipping, now have additional problem as stated above. Sony RDR-VX525 is only about 6 months old - this is ridiculous!

Receive disc error when recording. Disc is unreadable. I have noticed that i can record 1 hour of video but no more. I am very disappoint with this product. Magnavox will not help because the warranty has expired. This is obviously a design flaw.

i finish recording a movie the other day and when i tried to stop it, the red stop light just continue to blink, then about 10 minutes later it came up disc error and when i tried re-inserting disk message "Disc contain unknown data" appears. Is there a way to recover from this? Also how do you recover a disc if there is a power outage during recording. I have lost alot of money throwing dvd's away because they refuse to play for me....Please help

I start to record and get about 6 seconds into recording and it stops. It will play DVD's and record from DVD to VHS tapes. I just recorded from tape to DVD a few days ago. Ran out of the Maxell DVD+R brand I always use, bought more. When I put in the DVD, it says "The disc may be dirty, have an incompatible format, or region code." Bought Imation, the other suggested brand, it didn't work. Exchanged them for another unknown brand, they start to record, stop but no error message like before. Cleaned the lens, recycled by unplugging, read the manual front to back, need more help than I can do on my own. Suggestions?

courtdate - thank you, but that's what I am using and it's all I've used in the machine, other than prerecorded disks.
