Hi,
Is there a coverplate where the wires come out of the pump? If so, remove the plate and there should be a wiring diagram inside.
Good Luck

SOURCE: electrical connection to pump

can you photograph the new connections for me? if you look at the connections, the neutral normally has a solid link across it, the earth will be to the frame and the other two are the high and low speed live connections.

If not on top of the motor it could be in the back mounted to the end bell. Many motors now don't have a start cap but are wired to get this done. Sorry to say but a lot of motors are ment to be throw aways nowadays.

If it is an AOSmith motor white will be the top, high in the middle and low on the bottom. You'll need to determine if your black or red is high and the other will be low.

My new AO Smith motor does not have an L1 IT has L2, L3, and L4 so how do I hook the wires?

There is a schematic on the motor itself to show you exactly how to hook it up. The main thing is knowing whether it's 115 volt or 230 volt connection. Good luck any questions hit me back up.

A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if answer is helpful for your question. THANK you and GOD BLESS

The voltage is not optional. What voltage are you plugging the pump into?
If you are plugging it into 115, the pump must be set for 115.
If you are plugging it into 230, the pump must be set for 230.
Usually there is a wiring diagram on the label on the pump body or if you remove the end cover, there may be instructions there. There may even be a switch or terminal that states 115 volts and another that states 230 volts.
