Disconnect the power cord and battery. Hold down the power button for a minute and then connect only power cord.

SOURCE: the bottom row of my keys and numbers pad won't work

If it is brand new, then you have warranty, I suggest you return it to the supplier to get it fixed, because if you do something to it you might void your warranty.

Im on my niece acer aspire 5534 laptop and her mouse touchpad isnt working can u help

There should be an image on the number or function rows of the keyboard that is colored the same color as the FN key. On that look for the one that resembles the touch pad, press and hold the FN key then press the touchpad key to activate the touchpad. I think it is the F7 key.

On my acer aspire one, how do i switch off the numbers on J K L U I O?. When i type i get only numbers on these keys and no letters.

I've done this to myself on my own Aspire One 10.1" netbook.
  1. Look at the last row of keys on your keyboard [The row your spacebar is on]
  2. Look to the left of the spacebar, you will see four keys labeled: [From left to right] "Ctrl" , "Fn", Window's Start symbol and "Alt"
  3. Now at the top right where the F1-F12 keys are located, you will see directly under the F11 key is the words "NumLk" that translates into Number Lock
  4. Press and hold the "Fn" key
  5. While holding the "Fn" press F11
  6. Now you should be able to use the letters
On a side note: All the blue symbols on your keys can only be activiated by holding the "Fn" key.
You can disable and enable many aspects of your notebook by using the Fn key.
[Many can be found on the F2-F8 key and the arrow keys]

Please just let me know if you need anymore help!

The cursor is frozen and is not responding to the pad.

most likely you have in inadvertently deactivated the touch pad,
do you have an external mouse?
if so does it work
y/n
if yes (you have rebooted your pc at this point, right? if not do so now)
assuming the above look at your row of "F" keys (above the numbers, F1, F2 ect)
there is probably one that has a picture of something like a finger touching a box with a line through it
pick the one that looks the most like this and press it and the key to the left of the space bar that says FN (or some other variation of function on it) at the same time
does this solve the problem
if not try other keys in the F row along with the FN key
if not
repost

Some keys register different characters. For example the O registers the number 6 when it is typed.

This should be a simple fix, look at your keyboard, you should have a function key and if you look at the number pads above the top row of letters there should be either a numerical symbol or a key pad, your keyb board is simply using several keys as an extended numerical keypad. If you look closely at the letters there are small numbers on them. To fix hold down function key and pressing the keypad button. You can also try pressing the number lock.

Keyboard Produces Numbers Instead of Letters when Num Lock key is on. For example here is what I get when pressing the keys from Q all the way over to the \ key on that row of keys when I have the caps off...

I have the same problem. Click the Windows start button. At the bottom is a Windows Serach box. Type 'keyboard'. A virtual keyboard appears. Click the NumLock key on the Virtual Keyboard. This should override the issue you are having and your keyboard and keys should now work. Otherwise reboot!

When entering degrees minutes and seconds (as per lat and long) into Turbocad .. what is the symbol you use for degrees?

Hey there, this is easy. HOLD the ALT key down and with the ALT key held down type 0176 on the number pad. DO NOT use the numbers on the top row of your keyboard, it must be on the numeric pad.

Fn key wont turn off

OK, I've found a soliution! :) I've been diging the internet and many people are having the same problem, so it is a common problem however the soliution is very simple (in my case). The thing is that laptops does not has a saparated Num Pad, and numbers can be found on keys under F1-F12 row or/and (active with Fn key) on alphabetic keys uiopjkl;m/ and so on. But if there is a NumLk key on your keyboard, you can lock the Num Pad on alphabetic keys. Then you have to hold Fn key pressed to write letters.  Find the NumLk key and try to turn off the Num Pad :)
On my laptop (Acer extensa 5120) NumLk key is on F11 and active when Fn is depressed.
Hope this wil help :)
