Sanyo tv and Sony DVD player sound issue

I have had my Sanyo tv and Sony Blu-Ray connected using a HDMI cable for over a year. Suddenly the tv stopped playing the audio from the DVD player. It now says the DVD is an AV connection and needs an additional red/white audio cable. We have switched out the HDMI cables and the problem still exists. Adding the red/white audio cable does work, but is not attractive since all of our wires are hidden except that. I feel like a setting on either the TV or the DVD was changed and is causing this issue. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! ~Thanks!

Sounds like you are getting analog signals from your componet cables and a true digital input from your HDMI into your tv.

However that unit is Analog audio input x 1 only.
So i dont think your going to get true digital surround sound.
The problem being

Sanyo =

Inputs: Analog Audio x 1 Outputs: Composite x 1 · S-Video x 1 · Component x 1 · Digital Audio Coaxial x

SOURCE: problem using Audio 3 sound inputs for HDMI video

Normally this problem is simply a matter of selecting the correct default audio playback device in the Windows control panel (sound option).
Check the Playback tab and set the default device to either DVI or HDMI.

SOURCE: when i plug an hdmi

Hi, When you use the HDMI you have to switch the TV to HDMI to make it work. Not the other way around. Select the menu on your TV click to HDMI 1 or 2 depending which you are using. Sometime you have to ignor what it says. Try it out any way. Good luck.

I have red, yellow& white come out my dvd and only white & red plug in on the back of my tv how do i make that work and which source and channel i put the tv on

Red and White are audio, yellow is video. On the back of the TV there should be a yellow jack if it takes external inputs. There are two ways to connect your Blu-ray Player to your amplifier. Via HDMI output: Connect the player's HDMI OUTPUT to the corresponding INPUT on your amplifier using an HDMI cable. If your amplifier has an HDMI OUTPUT, connect that to the HDMI INPUT on your TV using an HDMI cable. See if these links help.

How do I hook-up Netflix through a Sony Blu-Ray player and a LG television

If your Sony Blu-Ray player and LG TV are recent models, each should have an HDMI cable connection. HDMI is an method to connect your digital video and audio devices with just a single combined cable. In the case of your LG TV, using an HDMI cable will allow you to send the HD video signal to your TV's screen, and allow you to hear the sound through the TV's speakers.
Your LG TV may have multiple HDMI connectors, to allow other devices to send signals to your TV, such as a cable box or satellite box or digital video recorder (DVR). Your Sony Blu-Ray player will usually have just a single HDMI connector.
Purchase an HDMI cable from your local electronics store. There are different versions of the HDMI specification, and you should get a cable that you can verify is certified for the HDMI version 1.4 specification.
Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the Blu-Ray player, and the other end into one of the HDMI connectors on the TV, noting which one you selected.
When you turn on your Sony Blu-Ray and your LG TV, you should use the remote for the LG TV to select the input source. Your LG remote should allow you to select the HDMI input connector you used, at which point you should see the display of a DVD playing on the Blu-Ray player. If you cannot hear the sound, use the LG remote to increase the TV volume.

When I connect my Sony Google TV to my SANYO TV through a HDMI cable, it does not work. Please any suggestions? SONY TV model = Sony RMVZ320 Remote Control SANYO model = SANYO MODEL DP50747 ed it int

First of all, be sure that your SANYO TV is on the correct input for the HDMI port you're using. If that checks out, you might check to see that another device (e.g. blu-ray player, laptop, cable receiver, etc...) works with the SANYO TV using that same HDMI cable and port. If it does work, perhaps your Google TV box is set for a higher resolution than your SANYO TV supports.

42LG50 TV - Intermittant sound problems with blu-ray HDMI input

You say this doesn't happen on regular cable or when playing a regular DVD. Hmm. Is this Blu-Ray player connected by simplink? HDMI is a bi-directional format cable, so  there are cases in setups where your tv can send commands to your blu-ray player and vice versa. It could be a problem with your blu-ray player that it is sending for some odd reason a mute command to your tv. Or is processing a command that your TV interprets to be a mute command when playing blu-rays. Because if it was the TV itself chances are you'd see this when watching a normal DVD or on cable as well. Since you say you're not, it leads me to believe the issue lies with the blu-ray player itself.
