My laptop shuts down during bootup

My laptop keeps shutting down after a certain point in boot-up. I was recently forced to update after I wanted to restart my laptop. I let the computer update and I went to the store when I came back, I noticed the laptop was off. Whenever I turn it on it gets to a certain point in boot-up and then shuts off.

Which point in the boot up is that? are there any error messages? Can you still boot to safe mode without any problem? Please answer my questions so that I can provide you with a detailed troubleshooting steps.

There are no error messages, and its the point before windows 8 starts up. Everytime i hit f8 or shift + f8 to go safe mode, nothing happens. There are no error messages at all, it just unexplainably shuts down. Before the update, it was running fine, and the fan was never exerting any kind of force. The laptop is only 5-6 weeks old

I suggest that you contact the warranty tech support of your laptop because you are still covered by the warranty.

Laptop shuts down during Windows XP install

When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.

You need to do a system restore back to before the update. You can either access it during your bootup or, you should have the option through "all programs".

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
or
During the boot process tap the f8 button three times this will boot into safe mode where the only things working will be your mouse and keyboard enabling you to attempt to repair your computer
Also you might try
Turn Off the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10 key,ie: Alt+F10, it will open the recovery console ,select full factory restore and follow on screen instruction. (Note:this will erase all datas on the computer)
hope this helps

Computer freezes after bios screen on every restart.

One thing you could check is what order your computer is booting from. CD drive hard drive then other. Should be hard drive first. Go into the bios to do that. If you hold the power button down for 5 to 10 seconds the machine should physically shut down rather than unplugg. The unplug thing sounds like its in the power settings. But I've never heard of power settings being connected to bootup except for a password. Anyway a wild guess is check the bios bootup order.

Toshiba A-215 will not boot after windows update

Hi there.
Boot the machine into safe mode by restarting the PC, as it boots up hit the F8 key until it giver you a sub menu with safe mode at the top and select that.
Hopefully the system will boot into safe mode, if it does you want system restore (if you use Vista a pop up window will appear on the right hand side of the screen, click on system restore, with XP just follow on-screen instructions)
All you have to do is select a date to before you performed the updated and restore from there.
Please keep us posted!!

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Acer5920 stuck in configuring updates.

This is generally caused by bad blocks in the Master Boot Record(Table). The drive itself is probably not salvagable. You'll need a reputable reapir person to slave your drive to another system to get the data off.

Good Luck
