I also found after cleaning this happened to me and we unplugged the whole unit for a bit and it "reset". It stopped. I am sure you alreadytried this but thought i should at least mention it in case you haven't.

We have an older Thermador Gas Cooktop type range. It was working fine until the cleaning crew came in, then all the burner igniters were clicking when turning on a single burner. I solved the problem by cleaning off the igniters. I first of course unplugged the power. Then I took a small wire telcom pic tool to scrape the white and brown deposits from the sides of the igniters. You could probably use something else similiar to do the scraping. I noticed a shiny surface underneath. I then went ahead and scraped and brushed clean the mating surface where the spark travels. I then vacuumed up the mess. My burners all worked great after this. Hope this helps!

I agree with the above but if that does not solve the problem, consider this: The contact brushes inside each burner's ignitor switches can get contaminated with grease and stick together. Either dissassemble the switches and clean the contacts or replace the switch harness.

Hi If it older installation. Clean the goo and corrosion off the mating metal faces on the burner cap and burner base. use steel wool or a strong scrubber.. If it new installation the outlet you are using to plug it in is on a GFI circuit (ground fault interrupt) You cannot use a cooktop with automatic re-ignition. the ignitor will not ground and will keep sparking... hope this helps

All pilots ignite when 1 gas knob is used on one burner

All igniters will spark when you turn on any burner but only the one you have turned on will allow gas through to ignite.

Tip

Cooktop Range Stove spark ignition does not work

You go to light the burner on your cooktop and the spark does not work.
What can the problem be? In most cases the problem will be because the
spark ignition module has gone bad. This spark module is a piece of electronics that produces a harmless electric spark at 2-4 pulses per second. Because the spark is a ultra low amperage spark, it is not dangerous.

A typical spark ignition will look similar to this.

3d9d92a.gif

This box is usually in a metal box located somewhere under the cooktop of your stove or in the back panel of your stove. The easiest way to find this is to simply follow the electric wires that go from the spark ignition box to the spark tip located at each of the burners.

The spark is activated by a switch that is located behind each of the burner control knobs. When one of the switches is turned on, all of the burners spark at the same time. The spark switch will look something like this.

65e350a.gif

To troubleshoot the spark ignition you need to determine if the system is wired in series or parallel. If the system is a series system and one is not sparking, then none will spark.
Almost every time if the spark is not working, it is because of a bad switch. To isolate which switch it is, turn each switch till you find the one that does not activate the module to spark. You can confirm this by pulling the two wires off of the switch and touching them together. If you get spark you know that the switch is bad. If no spark happens then either then a wire is bad or the module is bad. If none of the switches cause the module to spark then it is a good assumption that the spark module is bad.

By checking through these procedures you will be able to tell whether your problems are caused by a bad switch, a bad wire, or a bad spark ignition module. You will discover almost every time that the switch behind the burner is the part that needs to be replaced.

Maytag/Jenn Air JGD8130ADS one burner will not ignite but all others will. solutions?

Turn off gas. Remove the cartridge and remove back cover. Clean the ignition spark area. Re-install the cartridge without the back cover. Try to ignite the spark. If the spark works. The spark wire is too close to the back cover. Use an electrical tape to insulate the wire from the back cover. Other swap the two spark to see if you have a faulty spark.

All 4 electrodes spark when only one is turned on

Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the electrical outlet that the stove is plugged into.
Residue from food and sometimes cleaning products may be preventing the igniter from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. This is a common problem that occurs when the stove has been cleaned or food is allowed to build up. Make sure that the igniter and the burner base are clean and dry. This will help with proper operation. Oven cleaner and a small tooth brush may be used to accomplish this. Another problem with ignition may occur if you have too little (touching) or too much space between the igniter and the base of the burner; it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the igniter. A good "blue" arc from the igniter to the burner base is optimal. If this doesn’t work, you may need to replace the electric igniter module. Good luck.
