Question about Apple iPod nano

1 Answer

Our iPod Nano was plugged into an incorrect charger that was too high voltage. It now does not respond at all. Is the whole thing fried, or is it recoverable?

Sadly it is most likely fried. You must take into apple store and they will tell you for sure.

SOURCE: How to unlock my ipod

Hook the iPod up to the computer you set it up on and open iTunes. When you disconnect it it should be unlocked. If you are not using the original computer that you set it up with, you may need to do a restore within iTunes.

I would send it in to get repaired or replaced if the toggle is broken since there is probably not much you can do to fix it yourself.

SOURCE: problem with ihome and ipod nano.

yes, unfortunately the ihome iH9 is not compatible with previous models of the ipod nano.

if you want a similar device, there are many other docking stations for the ipod that are ip0 that ARE compatible with the ipod nano 2G

iH85B is another ihome dock which is compatible with all ipods after the ipod mini (including the ipod nano 2G)

SOURCE: ipod nano 3rd no display after new battery put in.

It may need a new logic board as well but first, try a restore. Connect your iPod with the cable that came with it to the USB port on your computer. In iTunes, click and (Restore). This will rebuild all the software on the iPod and restore your songs. If that doesn't work, I guess it's the logic board. Unfortunately, replacing that is going to cost almost as much as a new iPod.

I have an ipod model a1199. i was wondering if you can use a newer ipod touch charger for it? and if not what kind of charger does it use?

Charge an iPod Nano Without a Charger
If you've misplaced or broken the charger that came with your iPod Nano, you might think you need to purchase a new one in order to continue using your Mp3 player.
However, there is a way that you can continue enjoying your iPod without having to purchase a new charger.
As long as you have a USB cord and a computer, you can charge your iPod without having the charger.

Locate the USB cord that came with your iPod Nano package.
It is the same cord that you use in order to sync or transfer music.
Plug the small end into your iPod Nano.

Plug the other, larger end into your computer's USB port.
Choose "Do Nothing" when your computer presents the dialogue box to let you choose what to do with the hardware or USB connection.
Leave your Nano plugged into your computer for at least 4 hours to charge.
Unplug your iPod Nano when charging is complete.
Charge an iPod Without the Charger
Many iPod owners purchase a charging unit that plugs into a standard wall outlet to recharge the iPod's battery.
However, the iPod wall charger is not included with new purchases, so consumers must either purchase a separate charger or find a way to charge their iPod using other means.
Here's a simple method to charge your iPod using your computer.

Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of your iPod.
Plug the other end of the iPod USB cable into a free USB port on your Mac or PC computer.

Open the iTunes program by clicking on the icon in the Dock on a Mac or using the Start menu on a PC.
Click on the name of your iPod under the "Devices" heading in the main iTunes window.
Click on the "Sync" button to synchronize your iPod with your computer data.
While the iPod is syncing, the power from the USB port on your computer will charge your iPod's battery.

Unplug your iPod from the computer once the battery is fully charged.

This one should be ok.

If it doesn't respond when you plug it to a charger its most likely motherboard problem.

Ipod will not charge

The battery might be fried. Does it work while it is on the charger? If it does, then that means that it is fried. If that's the case, take it to the Apple store, and they can either replace the battery for you, or they can replace it.

Incorrect ac charger, digital camera doesn't work.

Oh dear!!! Your son is very naughty!!! You should never connect cables or parts from another device to other devices not meant for them, unless they are a basic universal usb type cable etc. Most likely your son has fried a very delicate part inside you camera. It may well have worked at first, but many things will seem to work like that but eventually it will cause issues. Usually fairly quickly. The fried part may be small, like a connector or it could be a larger more exoensive part, unless it is still in warranty, you will either have to take it to a repair shop, and tell them the issue (high/incorrect vaultage leading to a possible fried part) or I hope you have warranty, and send it away. I would never suggest to another to open a camera but....I have fixed many cameras, but unless you are willing to have a go, it can be a bit daunting. I repaired a dvd this way. It turned out to be a fried part worth 30.00 but better than a whole new dvd. Never play with electrical stuff that is connected to anything and make sure not batteries are in!!!!
