WHY WOULD IT NOT BE HEATING UP

This means your heating element has burnt out. Usually they consist of a coil, much like you can see on a hair dryer, in line with the air intake. Most common cause is the coil burning out due to excess lint and severing itself. When the coil breaks electricity cant travel from positive to negative so the coil stops heating up. Look online, try sears, type in your model number followed by - heating element - . You should be able to find your model number in the manual or by searching the name of the dryer. If you get the heating element and pay someone to install it, you should not have to pay more then getting a new dryer.

I NEED TO TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM FOR MY KENMORE DRYER MOD NO 11096375100. I NEED TO KNOW IF ITS THE THERMOSTAT OR HEATING ELEMENTS BAD..ELEMENTS(3) OHM OUT TO ZERO..

If your ELECTRIC dryer is still running, but does NOT produce heat, the following two links can give you advice on how to troubleshoot an ELECTRIC dryer with a no heat problem:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576548-dryer_runs_but_does_not_heat

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574266-thorough_dryer_advice

IMPORTANT: Your problem may or may not be related to a heating element problem as there are numerous factors that can cause a dryer not to heat. The heating element has protection devices that are designed to regulate the heat and internal temperatures. If the dryer overheats the Thermal Cut-Out (TCO) typically will blow BEFORE the heating element. The replacement kit is much cheaper than purchasing a new heating element that may or may not be the problem.

Begin by verifying the source voltage at the receptacle and service breaker, and verify your power cord.

The reason a dryer may still run if the input voltage is incorrect, is because the drive motor only uses a portion of the 220 service. The motor runs off 110-120VAC, while the heating circuits require 220-240VAC. So, if you are missing 1/2 your input voltage due to a tripped breaker or bad power cord, your dryer may exhibit these symptoms.

If you determine the problem to be internal, the heating circuits will either be located in the rear of the dryer on the right hand, or under the dryer drum. Usually, an easy way to determine is by the location of the lint screen filter. If the filter is on top of the dryer, the heating circuits are in the back of the dryer. If the lint screen is in the door, the heating circuits are located under the dryer drum.

NOTE: If either the TCO or Hi-Limit Thermostat are determined to be bad, replace BOTH components at the same time. That is why these components are commonly sold as a set. Failure to do so may result in premature failure of any parts you replace.

Replacement parts can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The first three sites listed also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations that you can use to locate and properly identify any parts you may need. If you have questions, require additional assistance, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

I don't know anything about dryers so please bear with me. My dryer drum turns, fan blows, but wont heat. replaced heating element. Still no heat. Has 124 volts on both prongs of element. What should i do?...

Have you tried flipping the breakers @ your electrical box? Mine will do that at time when one breaker has tripped. It will have enough juice to run it but not heat it. IF that doesn't work there may be a broken wire to the heating element or possibly even a faulty heating element. I'd try the breakers first though.(Im not a professional I've just been a single mom for 18 years and have found myself working on all sorts of things and gaining knowledge from hands on experience) Hope it helps & works.

Dryer will not produce heat. Dryer turns on and drum turns. Runs quiet but no heat. Clothes do not dry.

It is possible you need to replace your heater element or your thermostats .. depending on your model which you did not list. Your element and thermostats will cause it not to heat ... when you get your model go to www.sears.com/parts and you can possibly view your schematic if sears had ever sold it... get an ohm meter there cheap Lowe's home depot sears test for power on each of the three. clean the venting also..

Substitute heating element

Go to the local appliance repair parts store- they will have generic replacement elements and will likely be able to get you a right one for your dryer.
You should know if possible two things: model/serial number for your unit and length of the heating coil. (perhaps you've already taken it out)

Wirlpool dryer heating eliment keeps braking

Sounds like you use dryer sheets. If you do, try cleaning your lint screen with vinegar. Dryer sheets leave a film on the screen that the dryer eventually can't breathe through, the dryer overheats and burns up the elements.
