When I turn it on it shuts off amp

This sounds like a wiring issue. I don't know what you're turning on that it causing the amp to shut off - because you didn't include that info. Double check the installation instructions of both the amp and the other device. Make sure you're connecting to valid points in the car's wiring. If you're still having trouble, please provide the year, make and model car and the make and model of the amp and the other device. Has either worked in the car alone before - or did you install them both at the same time? Are these devices new, or used. Did you see them work correctly before? Thanks!

I have been having trouble with my car stereo system

First reinspect your power and ground connections, vibration may have loosened them.

Then be sure that amp location has proper ventilation, (overheating will cause shout down)
A 2400 in a closed space will definitely need exhaust fans to help circulate cool air around the amp.

The cap should be mounted close to the amp and properly charged before use. It is connected in-line with the main power lead paying close attention to the power in and power out terminals.

Power in = from the battery
Power out = to the amp

Good luck

There is either a thermal problem in the amp itself (a bad part) causing it to shut down after a while, or the amp is overheating due to a load problem. This may be due to wiring issues or a bad speaker. Try running the amp into a set of test speakers connected directly to the outputs with all the other speaker wiring disconnected. If the amp still shuts down you'll know the problem is in the amp itself. If it runs OK, you'll have isolated the trouble to the wiring or speakers and can test that portion.

Amp trouble

The ohm load may be too low. What make/model amp is it?

Amp is randomally shutting off

If the amp shuts down with no pattern, you need to measure the DC voltage on the power terminals.

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp (not on the point where the ground wire connected to the vehicle) and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red lead alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. If the voltage is below ~11 volts, you need to check the wiring feeding whichever line is too low.

Since there is no pattern, you will have to watch the meter for a while so you can see the meter drop when the amp shuts off. If the meter never drops on either the remote or B+ terminals (when the amp shuts off), the amp may have an internal fault.

Amp shuts off

check your remote wire and check your power and ground, clean all connections with a contact cleaner/rejuvinator (ridox/deoxit).. many times the thin remote wire will develop breaks or conductivity issues over time, i have replaced many of these just in the last few months.

to make sure this is the problem, remove the remote wire and temporarily jump the power wire to power and remote, the amp will always be on at this point, but it should help you diagnose whether the remote wire is the problem or if it is an amp or cabling issue.

hope this helps,

Amp trouble

Check the remote turn on line from your deck & make sure there is 12 volts on it when everything is on. Check the ground, too.

Power Problem, LED Lights up and then shuts off

Do you have the switch or activate wire on the new amp. to the right hookup? If you do, then theres a problem with the amp and if your not a tech these can be a difficult thing to trouble shoot. Take back the amp or seek out a pro to test it on a bench. Good Luck
