I have a speed queen st030 gas dryer. I have changed the ignitor wire and ignitor but the ignitor says on for an extended period of time after it is lit.

Usually there is a sensor that looks for the flame/ heat. If it staying on too much look at replacing that. Sometimes they're also meant to stay on a period of time too.... Good luck.

Kenmore 100.85081400 no heat

check the thermal fuse on the blower housing if its open some units wont heat, also check the heating element if heated electrically,or the ignitor on gas fired units,by the number you provided i believe you meant its a 110.85081400 instead of the 100.85081400 (and is electrically heated) you provided which is produced by whirlpool for sears (kenmore) also there is a control board located inside behind the control panel that may be a culprit, but check the first two things i suggested at the top

Dryer is running, but not hot. Is there a pilot light?

The dryer uses a hot surface ignitor to light the gas. It's common for these to go bad, and fairly easy to replace (although it means taking the whole front off of this model, if I remember correctly). A new ignitor is around $40, available online and any well-stocked appliance parts store.

There are other possible causes for the gas not to come on, but the ignitor is most likely. It can be checked with an ohmmeter if there are no obvious breaks. This site has good pictures of how to take the machine apart if you want to try repairing this yourself. (It's the procedure for changing a belt, but the steps are the same for removing the front. Your model doesn't have a separate kick panel that comes off, I believe. If I'm wrong then the job is easier since you can reach the ignitor that way.)

Good luck with the repair, and thanks for using Fixya!

Dryer will not heat up

Unlike electric dryers gas dryers will continue to run if the thermal fuse is blown. Usually some sort of air blockage will cause the thermal fuse to blow. The control thermostat powers up the gas assembly.cd79cfa.jpg It judges the drum temp as air passes over it on its way out the exhaust. It opens(quits sending electricity to the gas assembly) at 160f for cotton and closes(starts sending power to the gas assembly) again at 105f.
When the dryer is running and the timer is set for heat, the control thermostat is energised. It powers up the flame (ignitor) sensor, the ignitor, and the solenoids. The gas does not come out with those solenoids energised because the ignitor is using most of the power to get it lit. When the ignitor is glowing wide open the heat from it causes a bi-metal in the flame/ignitor sensor to bend and open the circuit to that ignitor. That kills power only to the ignitor. The resulting power surge causes the solenoids to yank open them flood gates and raw gas comes out onto that screaming hot ignitor. KAWOOOSHHHH Houston we has ignition. At this point the ignitor becomes a safety device. As long as the flame is washing through that ignitor the current keeps flowing to them solenoids and the gas keeps a coming. If for some reason their was no ignition the ignitor would cool down and shut off the solenoids. More here

Not heating up Gas Dryer

Modern gas dryers do not have a pilot light. They have an electronic ignitor (glow or spark). A glow ignitor turns on several seconds before the gas turns on and should get orange hot. A spark ignitor should make a clicking or buzzing noise.

Most likely the ignitor is bad but you can check it fairly easily to make certain. The best instructions I have found are at

http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/appliance/dryer/gdryer/check/ignitor.php

If it is the ignitor it can be replaced with a few hand tools. Remove the bad ignitor. Write down the make, model, and serial # of your dryer. Call your local appliance parts store to see if they have one it stock before driving over there.

Have a Whirlpool Gas Dryer - model # lgr7646a spins but no heat

Thre is no pilot light. This dryer uses an ignitor (glow bar or coil).
Open the lower front "door" (small access door) and turn on dryer.
If the ignitor does not glow (bright orange), then the ignitor needs to be replaced ($60).
If it does glow, then the gas valve needs replacement ($60).
If it isd the valve, the internal spring is stuck. Do not try to repair it, you must replace it.

Dryer Model DE306 has stopped heating

First thing to check is the ignitor underneath the drum. (You have to open the panel to see it) It should glow shortly after the dryer starts, then the flame starts and the ignitor shuts off. If the ignitor does not glow then it or the thermostat is bad. If the ignitor is glowing but the gas does not light then the flame sensor may have to be replaced. If the gas ignites but does not stay on either the flame sensor or the coils are at fault.

Amana Gas Dryer Model LG44097 suddenly quit heating. Can I correctly assume the problem is the Fabric Selection knob, part PS2201078 that controls heat/no heat?

probably not as these rarely go. More likely is that the glow bar ignitor on the gas valve has failed. Unlike old gas models, today's dryers do not use a standing pilot but a glow ignitor. This is the weakest link in the system. Part number fsp-279311
