SOURCE: Kenmore model 59675502400

if the evaporator is clogged with ice, then you have a defrost problem.
check the defrost heater and the bi-metal .

to answer your question what controls the fan then it is the module that controls the fan.

you said you have diagnostic to test the damper then there should be a procedure also to test the evaporator fan motor.

why don't you try it..

tnx 4 using fixya,

SOURCE: Noisy whirlpool condensor fan motor

These motors with the plastic fan are apparently failing so often that when I went to the parts store, the owner told me on guy bought 4 replacement motors for his condo complex. Buy the old version of the motor with a metal fan blade. You have to clip off the white connector on the wiring harness and then wire to the new motor using wire nuts (easy). It's a lot cheaper too - $49 for the motor and blade vs alost $100 for the crappy plastic one. Running llike a champ right now!

Yes. Usually the motor does not come with the fan blade. You should unplug it until you replace the fan motor or set up a portable fan to blow on the compressor and coils.

The door posts of my fridge freezers gets very hot. so the door seals become hot the only way it stops is if i shut the doors hard. why is this happening, it did it not long after i got the thing but now...

This is pretty normal unless you are having problems below the refrigerator fan. Good air flow equals more efficient. What you feel is call a yoder loop and that is hot Freon coming from compressor and circulating around doors to prevent moisture. If it becomes hotter and temperatures begin to increase inside freezer and fresh food compartments is really when you should be concerned. If the pipes were not there you would beging to see moisture form around door seals and rust also. At this point I believe your refrigerator is OK. Just watch for changes in temperatures inside combined with the heat around door frame. Other model refrigerators use electric heat strips to do the same thing and they can be switched off at a switch called energy saver. Your model does not have that and hot days the hotter it seems. Let me know if you have a safe temperature of 38 degrees inside fresh food compartment and if that changes we may need to clean dust and check condenser fan motor. Thanks, Sea Breeze

RF266AASH model. Refrigerator section fan rubbing

Hi, you have 2 fans on this box. If the fan in the freezer is ok, that's the evaporator fan, the other one is the condenser fan and sounds as though it is hitting a piece of the fiber panel. Anyway, it is located in the back of the unit. Get behind it so you have room, and you should have a fiber type panel at the bottom . Remove it to expose the motor and blade, coil, and the compressor. Look it over good to see if you can see if it is rubbing on something. The motor may be going out. While you are back there, try and clean the front of the condenser coil by checking to see if there is a film or sheet of lint or duct built up on it. This will cause high freon pressures in the system and play H....LL on the compressor, the fan motor and operation of the unit. Keep me posted on what you find out.
Sincerely,
Shastalaker7
PS Unplug it and check the motor bearings by gently moving the motor shaft back and forth, or from left to right. In and out play is fine. If it doesn't spin true and is noise, the bearings are going out and when the motor gets hot, it will stop. If this is the problem, you will have to get one at a appliance parts house. Let me know.

Westinghouse fridge: no cool air circulating inside

Art, I need to get a little more information from you. Does the condenser fan under the refrigerator seem to work and blowing warm air from below and or behind the refrigerator? The motor feeling warm is OK. Only when too hot to touch on top. Needs to cycle also. When you opened the freezer did you hear the fan blowing? Thanks, JT

I fixed my problem with the fan not working in the refrigerator section. It ended up being the fan motor. The way I nailed it down was to temporarily switch the wires to the fan motors in the connector on the circuit card. This electrically powered the freezer fan from the refrigerator side and visa versa. The fan still worked in the freezer side (running of the refrigerator circuit) and was still inop on the refrigerator side proving that there was nothing wrong with the circuit card or possible other factors driving that circuit (other than the fan motor). I ordered and installed a new fan motor (about $50) and now everything works fine. It seems that the original problem caused the circuit card to shut down voltage to the bad fan motor that's why when you checked the voltage from the circuit card, it was nill causing you to falsely believe that it was not the fan motor. Yes, I did a resistance check on the fan motor and it was very close to being the same as the freezer motor (same part number).

If you know that the fan is the culprit then it can be replaced. The motors are fairly cheap and easy to replace.
