Question about Computers & Internet
If there are more than 2 symbols on a key and I use the "caps" key the text will show the one on the upper right instead of the one directly above as is usual. This happens from time to time and I generally close my computer and start again but it keeps happening and having to close everything in a project is frustrating. Is there a way to change it back ( and know what I might have done to make it happen) without closing and rebooting?? I thiunk it the the French setting but have checked the keyboard settings and they are Canadian /US
Have you tried re-installing your input device drivers such as your keyboard? Are you using PS2 keyboard ? if yes then please try to check the pins on each pair

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

it sounds like you have turned on either your language bar settings and sometimes switch to another language, there is a function key you are hitting causing the keys to lock on that setting

when you changed it to do nothing on battery or power did you save these settings........I know it is a silly question but it sounds like the laptop is going into Hibernate mode

Could be faulty inverter board or faulty LCD backlight.
To determine which one is faulty, you have to replace inverter board or LCD screen, but i think that you don't have another inverter board or screen to test, so i'm recommending you to buy new screen with inverter attached to it.
Pick any screen from here
And here is how to replace it.

Yes you are right: it is a one time option. You can however install other languages. You will switch from the Canadian French keyboard to the US or English Canadian keyboard by pressing Shift Alt. You will console yourself if I told you that I type mainly in French, but the physical keyboard is US and I cannot even use the Alt + Ascii code to put the accents where due, because the laptop does not have numeric pad.
Hope it helps.
