How do I replace a optical block on a Sony 64"hdmi KDS 60A2000

I have an older sony model hdmi tv that the optical block went(everything is green) Model kds 60a2000. I love this tv and was wondering if I could repair it. It was bought in 2006.

The optical block is usually pretty expensive. Some Sony models have a recall on this item (mine did) and it will be replaced for free. If not, here is a video that might help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oP2nNPOjn_Y

You need a new optical engine.Sony still covers this model for your problem under warranty.Call customer service at Sony and they will get you started.

With the set turned off:

RESETTING THE LAMP TIME
When replacing the lamp, use the following to reset the lamp time.
1. If the Self-Diagnostic screen is already displayed, proceed to step 4.
If not, Power off (Set to Standby mode).
2. Press DISPLAY Channel 5 Sound Volume -
POWER
3. To access the Lamp reset, press 5 until the TIME category displays.
4. Press 1 until the RSET item displays.

Optical Block needs replacing


unfortunately the optical blockissue kills any resale value except for the chassis boards value for used boards. Parting it out will be your best bet as alot of people may be needing the boards.

How do I get the yellow/green color toned down on our Sony KDS-60A2000 TV?


If the screen has a yellow green color to the whole or most of the screen in this model it may be a defective optical light engine.

Sony TV has "green video"


Ummm. Take the $1133 in cash and buy a Sony KDS-60A2000.
Possibly call Sony customer relations, they may cover repair. I know this is possible.

Green hue....is it the optical block? or do I require a new Lamp Block?


This problems is the optical engine block problems.Very expensive part to replaced and job by the tv Tech.If this tv been in used like for about five years or more,my opinion just better put ur money in for a new tv.The earlier tv design for the optical engine block is not that great of a design,will happen again,just don't know when that it.

Green color is dominant

The picture appears to have a green tint to it Sony KDS-60A2000 3 yrs old


The optical block is failing. Contact SONY for a replacement. They have extended the warranty or replace the sets

My guess would be a Bad light engine also called optical block.

Sony T.V. has too much green in color .


Went to site http;//esupport sony.com/sxrdsettlement and found out Sony has to replace the optical block which cause the picture to have too much green. You have till June 30,2009 to get it fix.

Sony extended Optical Block until 06/302010. Will re-imburse your if you replaced the optical block out of your own pocket

Aspart of the Sony commitment to quality, Sony is announcing that it isextending the limited warranty (parts and labor), in the United States,on the optical block of the above-referenced 2006 model SXRDtelevisions until June 30, 2010, regardless of purchase date. For anycustomer who requires repair of the optical block on one of theaffected models, Sony will cover the cost of the optical block repair(parts and labor) at no charge through June 30, 2010. This extendedwarranty does not apply to the replaceable projection lamp or the otherparts that may be used in the televisions.
