Normally a 2020 but depending on the material you are sewing will determine the guage. ie: purple/red-16 use on heavy weight material, purple/yellow-16 use on heavy weight knits.

What kind and size needle should I use in my Kenmore 158 14300 machine

Needles are sold at WalMart or other stores. The needle size is depending on what you are going to sew. The needles have the sizes marked on the package. The type of needle that your machine uses is a standard needle for sewing machines; no special type.

I am in need for needles for my Speedylock 1600 What kind of needles do I use......the manual says household type.....does that mean a regular sewing Is machine needle? Is there a size or number?

The plain ol' Singer-type needles are what you need, they're pretty much the standard through the household sewing machine/serger industry.

Match your needles to the material you're using (thickness of the needle) and the thread you're using (eye size). There's generally a chart on the needle package to clue you in there.

That's a nice machine, good luck with it!
