Connecting the three electrical wires.

For this pump motor. For 220v connection, there are three wires which connect under the supply power connector. A purple, white, and blue wire. Where do these connect. Does the purple wire connect to the 220v prong, the white wire to the center L2 prong and the blue wire to the L1 prong? Please assist. Thanks.

SOURCE: wire Hayward Super Pump for 115

If you look closely, you should see a small arrow on the black plastic piece on the terminal block(jumper). That arrow lines up with either the 115 or 230 mark on the white terminal board. Make sure it is aligned with the 115.

Then put you two line wires on. It does not matter which wire goes to line 1 and line 2, just be sure you DO NOT put them both on the same terminal. A plastic divider usually seperates the two line connection terminals.

SOURCE: does it matter if use 220 or 115... looks like i

220 VAC is more efficient ... so there is some cost savings in the money department. Volts X amp = watts generally ... there is still a savings because you will actually consume fewer watts at 220 (watts is what you are purchasing form the power company)

Wiring depends ...you going to use 110 or 220? if 110 ... black is hot and goes to L1 ... white is nutral and goes to L1.

If 220 ... black is hot and goes to L1 - white is hot and goes to L2.

Your owner manual has a good picture and description of this.

In the plug ... 110 - neutral should go to the left slot.

Is your breaker 110 or 220 (single pole or double pole - one slot or two slots)

These voltages are not compatable!

I suggest you use this pump at 220.

Flowtek motor 4877. Where can I get a diagram for connecting 220v?

It should be located on the inside of the cover at the electrical connection point or on the label located on the outside of the motor.

I have Hobart D300 mixer which operates at 220V, 3phase supply and whereas the facility has 208V, single phase supply. Is there any recommended phase converters available for this product. Thanks

Hi Bill
I may be wrong here......
But I've been around Electricity for a long time.
Have Never seen a device that does phase conversion.
A Building site or home will either have Three Phase or Single Phase Power Available
BUT...A portable (Hired) generator could be "three phase" and you could use any one of those phases individually or all three phases.

I have 3 Phase supply to my house!
But I use 230 volt Single Phase for appliances.
My Bore Pump uses a 3 Phase Motor,
(so with a voltmeter it would read about 440 vAC to the pump motor).
Some Further Info:
A GENERATOR is basically a motor used the opposite way. Rotate a motor and it Generates.
The Phases refer to the THREE Windings in the supplying generator in your suburb.
A Large Magnet passes each winding in sequence giving you the three ripples in the supply.
Our houses can choose to have 1 Phase or Three Phases from the street when you set up your electric supply.
So... to confirm, look at the wires on the supply poles to the premises. Usually three in our area (Oz)
Most people are not aware that a car Alternator is actually three phase. The Rotor is the magnet that rotates.
The only difference with an Alternator is that each "Phase" is connected to 2 Diodes (6 total) to convert the three phase to DC to charge the vehicle.
The Regulator controls the voltage to the Rotor, thereby controlling the output.
So.... An Alternator could in theory supply 3 Phase in a mobile generator. Custom Made. Constant speed would determine the frequency of 50Hz or 60Hz.
Not sure what country you are in

Hope this Helps or gives you food for thought!

follow the owners manual.
if you are hooking this pump up as 220v, you will have two hot wires. one goes to L1 and the other to L2. it matters not which is where as they are both supplying power. be sure to connect the internal ground wire AS WELL as the bonding wire to the outside lug

First, be absolutely sure that your motor is wired for 220v. If it is 110v and you apply 220v the motor will die instantly (after a loud bang). Also verify that your supply is in fact 220v.

Without exception 220v power should be supplied by two wires of the same color, as they are both "hot". Black and white wires are common in 110v wiring, the black being hot and the white neutral.

Every pool pump I have worked on has had two terminals where the wires attach to the motor, L1 and L2, wire orientation does not matter.
Evidently yours only has one. Apparently there is no wiring diagram on the side of the motor either, which is also atypical. Best bet is to call the factory for assistance with this.

How do i convert motor from 120v to 220v

you should have a label on the pump that shows the connections. 120V=low voltage 220V=high voltage. Here is an example of a label:
Conect the internal motor wires to the terminals indicated. Then connect your line to the terminals indicated

Wiring of 2hp motor

You need to take advice from the motor manufacturer or reconditioner to ensure you are wiring it correctly.

Typically a basic single phase motor will have a start winding and a run winding. That usually makes four wires for a reversible motor but that can be cut to three if the motor must run in one direction only so the three wires would be start, run and common.

The run is connected to the hot side of the supply and the start similarly connected to the hot side except the start capacitor will be in series. The common wire will require connecting to a neutral and of course the motor body will need a ground unless it is double insulated.

It should be possible to sort which is which using a sensitive ohmmeter.

You're not connecting a 110V rated solenoid to a 220V supply are you? (Always thought the US supply system was unneccesarily complex). A.
