Question about Onkyo Tx-sr604 7.1 Channel A/v Receiver black
Picture started to degrade by pixelating. Degraded to point where there was no picture at all. Took it to a dealer who said the HDMI board was bad. With my approval he ordered another board. Have been waiting since 11/6/2012 & it's still on backorder. What usually goes wrong with the HDMI board? Can I repair myself by replacing capacitors? (I've read that the capacitors have been an issue for Onkyo) If so... which capacitors should I replace.
It's usually the hdmi switching IC that goes bad on these. Not something you can really replace without the right equipment and knowledge.

You said you tried hooking the HDMI up directly from the TV to each component, and that worked. How is it usually hooked up - through some kind of switch? I'm not completely understanding your setup here.

easiest fix is to take all hdmi straight to tv. then come out of tv with optical cable to your receiver. that way what ever your watching will automatically be sent to the receiver thru optical. you even will get dolby dig. also you can have audio from your tv when you dont want to use your surround. keeps receiver on one input also.

You will need to contact Onkyo directly and request the board from the parts department. I was not able to locate a part number for this as we are usually requested to perform component level repairs for these units.
