SOURCE: Freezer works great, as it should, but fridge is only keeping items room temp. I have the setting at the coldest setting: #7. What is wrong?

Here's what I did, I defrosted! I found out that the fridge temp is monitored and maintained by the freezer. Because we had a power outage one night, my freezer thawed while we all slept and then when power came back on, freezer re-froze but this cause an ice build up on the vent on the back wall of the freezer. Well, ice must have been in one (or more) vents, causing blocked air flow in my top half of the refrigerator. I turned the dial in the freezer to "off" which also shuts down power to the fridge half. I then unplugged the refrigerator, hauled all my food items into coolers, opened the freezer door and refrigerator doors and left them open for a little over six hours. I took advantage of this empty fridge and freezer and wiped everything down. After this time frame passed, I plugged the fridge back in, turned the freezer dial to my preferred freezer temp, and wah-lah! Within two hours I had a cold fridge and solid ice cubes in the freezer. I then put all my food items back into their appropriate compartments, and went to work. Bear in mind, a total 24-hour period is needed for the fridge to re-set itself, but still, after two hours the fridge was noticeably cold. Who knew, besides our parents' generation: DEFROST!

SOURCE: Amana energy saver not keeping fridge section cool enough. HELP!

if there is frost build up on rear wall of freezer section the unit is not going through defrost cycle which builds up frost on evaporator and restricts cold air flow to the fresh food section. one of three things are bad. defrost heater, defrost thermostat or defrost timer. if no frost on rear wall you might be low of freon.

SOURCE: Freezer seems to be working properly, but fridge cant keep temp

Poor cooling is often the result of a heavy frost build-up on the evaporator coils. You can't see these coils without removing a panel on the inside of your freezer. A sure sign that there is a build-up is the presence of any frost or ice build-up on the inside walls, floor, or ceiling of the freezer. Such a frost build-up usually indicates a problem in the self-defrosting system or damaged door gaskets. The refrigerator is supposed to self-defrost approximately four times in every 24 hour period. If one of the components in the self-defrosting system fails, the refrigerator continues to try to cool. Eventually, though, so much frost builds up on the evaporator coils that the circulating fan can't draw air over the coils. There may still be a small amount of cooling because the coils are icy, but with no air flow over the coils, cooling in the refrigerator compartment is quite limited. Here's an inexpensive, though inconvenient, way to determine if the problem is with the self-defrosting system. Remove all of the perishable food from the refrigerator and freezer, turn the thermostat in the refrigerator to Off, and leave the doors open for 24 to 48 hours. (Be sure to have several towels ready in case the melting frost and ice causes the drip pan to overflow). This allows the refrigerator to defrost "manually." When the frost and ice build-up has completely melted away, turn the thermostat back to a normal setting. If the refrigerator then cools properly, it indicates a problem with one of three components in the self-defrosting system: The defrost timer The defrost thermostat (also called the bi-metal switch) The defrost heater If it still does not cool properly, there may be a problem with the refrigerant level or the compressor. You may need to consult with a qualified appliance repair technician to further diagnose the problem

If this is tight against the back wall and even side, pull it out some so it can breath... When a fridge is tight against the wall it can't breath with Air and works harder hench a colder temp.... Try pulling it out.. UNplug for 10 mins.. Lower the temp dial.. Plug back in. Also if you have pets make sure not PST hair is clogged underneath the unit..

To fix up a frosted up vents, I had a control board replaced for $180. Then 6 months later, the bottom freezer frost up AGAIN. rather than dumping more money to fix it, I was about to buy a new fridge, but had a crazy idea: I disconnected the water to the freezer, bought plastic trays for ice cubes for $3 at walmart. Fridge has worked like a charm for 6 months. no signs of frost. Saved $1000's.

Fridge too cold!

don't forget that just turning down your fridge temp dose not mean your problem might be over yet. the freezer setting may also be too high & that will affect your fridge temp as well. i set both my control settings to around 50% of what is on the scale & that works perfect for my 7 yr old fridge. also, very important, is make sure the freezer portion is going through it's full defrost cycles, or it will freeze the upper portion inside the fridge. you should not have any frost build up in your fridge, nor should you have any in your freezer. that's why they call them FROST FREE. try the slow temp decrease over a period of a few days & hopefully that will work for you. good luck.

Hi there

Samsung's child lock is easy to alter

Press the vacation and fridge temp buttons simultaneously and hold for 4 seconds, this will release the child lock, to reinstate the lock just repeat this. 4 seconds is quite a long time.

Hope this helps

Fridge not cold but freezer working great

I had the same problem, and it turned out to be a cooked fan motor.
I couldn't find a reasonable (less than $150) replacement motor from Haier places, but I just took the motor out and took it to an appliance repair center (in North Denver)
They said it was a standard part, charged me around $22 for a new one and I was all set.

For my replacement motor, it was a reversible design, and was initially set to go the wrong way, so I had to reverse it.

Freezer at 10 deg, fridge at 50

haier refrigerators have been known to have the cold control go bad. it only sense's the temp in the fresh food section so that would be why the freezer is still ok. The problem is the control is cutting out to fast and not letting the temp go lower. from what you said i would take that there is good air flow between the freezer and the fresh food compartment. so the only thing it could be is the cold control. I would replace it and you should be all set.
