Push mower surging

My Honda HRS2162PDC surges works a little better when I give it choke.I have taken the carb. apart and cleaned everything and it still surges. What could be causing this issue which I thought was dirt or a vacuum leak which doesn't look apparent.

SOURCE: mower surging

let it surge, it will usually get better as it warms up. These 6.5 Hp engines are fine except they have an cheap badly designed carburator. Nothing can be done about this problem. They all surge eventually.

You have dirt and/or moisture in your carburetor float bowl. Remove the bowl, clean it out, remove the main jet and clean it out and you should be good to go

A new carburetor will definately help. The old carburetor may have some ports still clogged. I would also spray some penetrating oil in the spark plug hole to help loosen up the rings on the piston. It may smoke alittle when you fist start it up. Plus try some "engine start" spray, to see if the engine will crank.

Yes you may need a carb kit. It is not good practice to by-pass the fuel filter. The orifice in the jet is very small.
But anyways, There Could still be a blockage inside the carb, a small leak at the manifold, or the jet is worn out.
Let me know how it goes.

Carbs needs to be taken apart and cleaned. What I did with my GL 1500 SE was put in some Amsoil Carb cleaner(don't recall the proper name at this time) for cars in the gas tank and within a tank or so, it straightened right up. This may not be recommended by all but mine never run better.

Sounds like either the fuel filter is dirty or the carbs need to be taken apart and cleaned of varnish buildup from old gas.

Generally this indicates a "lean" condition in the carburetor and there are no adjustments. Depending on your abilities, the best fix is to remove the carburetor and clean all the metering passages/jets. In some cases you are better off just replacing the carburetor. I have seen some Honda carbs. as low as $15-$20. Hope this helps to some degree.

Typically a surge is caused by a lean condition. I'd say the float is set to low and this is causing the engine to lean out & when you apply the choke it richens it back up.and the surge stops.

Governor keeps surging fast and then slow

Check to see if the engine runs smooth will slowly pulling choke out. if it runs better without surging, then its a carb problem.
Also may have an air leak in carb gaskets

Motor surges up and down

I would suggest that you give the carb a good cleaning. before you take it to a shop, you may want to try just taking the bowl off of the carburetor and rinse it out with carb cleaner. The bowl nut should be a 10mm metric wrench. Be careful and patient-everything needs to be put back together in the order it came apart.
