Question about Olympus DS-40 Digital Voice Recorder
Every time my computer get an auto update from Microsoft, my Transcription Module icon will not open. It will also not open from the start menu. There is no way for me to open it to play the dictation UNLESS I do a system restore to a prior date. I thought it was because of the auto updates so I turned them off, even critical updates from Microsoft, but it is still not responding, even more frequently now. I don't know what to do, I can't do a system restore every time to work to a previous month. There is nothing online addressing this issue and I tried to submit an issue to Olympus, filled out the form and it won't take it, it says "Error, contact system administrator" when I try to submit their own form to them. Help!

several solutions you can try.. first of all, convert it to wave and try to play it (file. convert to wave)
if it is for all dss files, then the program may have to dll files that updated and will not work now
depending on operating system... windows xp media edition maybe the cause would be my first guess and there would be no fix for it...
2nd guess... service pack 3.... try to uninstall the program and reinstall it... and if you have service pack 3... go thru control panel and uninstall service pack 3 if you have it

try reinstalling the software. And as for the foot pedals, take a good look at them and see if anything's wrong. If you don't find anything then plug it in and out a couple of times and make sure it's snug. For the phone, i suggest you buy a telerecorder. There about 5.35 and you plug into the microphone jack of your recorder and make sure to press record before each conversation on the phone. So far, that's all i can muster up.

Copy & paste the link they gave you (everything within the 'www' to the '.zip') and paste it in your address bar at the very top of your browser (not your search engine field). This is a direct link and will prompt you to open or save the file. Choose 'Save' and then save it to your desktop. You'll have to extract the .zip file once you've downloaded it.
And I assume they gave you another link for the Vista/XP2000 update? Do the same thing as I mentioned above.

Tips for a great answer:
Jun 10, 2014 | Olympus DSS Player Transcription Module...
Could it be that the files are just being regularly accessed by one of the server admin tools and the DSS Player application interprets an open file as 'being transcribed'
What happens when a copy of a .DSS file is made to an operators machine and then loaded locally for transcription?
