Question about Kenneth Cole 1213 Wrist Watch

1 Answer

Trouble opening One of the little pices in my watch that resembles the 3 fell off. I opened the watch and see that a little glue will fix the problem. I cant figure out how to get passed opening up the watch. I opened it but the small rod thats used to set the time does not allow me to remove the time piece so that i can get to the face of the watch. How can I remove the rod without breaking it.

Broken Armani sign

Yes it can be fixed but may need a jeweller. You cannot take the glass face out on it own, you have to remove the watch back plate and then pull out the watch mechanism. (Once the back plate is off removing the mechanism is not difficult) You then have access to both the inside glass face and the watch face. If you can do this you will need to glue the Armani logo with something like super glue, but not applied directly to watch, too risky. If you have tweezers hold the Armani logo in them. Use a pin and dip it into a small blob of super glue, apply the pin to the back of the logo and then place it on the watch face as quickly as possible and align. Once aligned apply a little pressure with the tweezers on the logo to help adhere, about 5 seconds, leave to dry and then put watch back together. If this all seems to difficult a jeweller can do it in about ten minutes.

Casio PAW-1200T Tough Solar Pathfinder watch says OPEN. Watch has never been opened, and solar battery has full charge. Nothing works but the basic time and the light.

so here is the fix if you get op en display on your casio pathfinder or whatever model. mine happens to be a paw 1200t
1. you gotta break it open 2 pins each side band comes off.
2. pry off the side pieces. this exposes 4 screws.
3. the base then comes off be careful of the gasket.
4. once inside. notice a round circular object on the base and a small oval shiny gold copper piece.
5. For whatever reason the shiny copper piece has shifted and does not make contact with the tiny little springs there are 2 if you shift the base to make contact with the gold piece the op en goes away and watch is back to normal.
6. the fix is move this little piece back to where it belongs. i got lucky and the glue still held when i firmly moved it to its original location. super glue came to mind if it wont stay where it belongs.

7. gasket orientation and cleaning out the gasket channel is a given i used welding tip cleaners to do the intricate work. under the bands are very grungy. mine is about 5-6 years old. reassemble the way it came out.

if your battery is good and you get this op en look to your display for whatever reason this worked for me and if casio uses this as a warranty or warning of water coming in your watch it was a STUPID DUMB IDEA. those springs should be solid state and the watch is useless until it is fixed no light, no baro, no alt, no comp. notta and no buttons work. there is no reason whatsoever that this shiny copper thing shifts but it happened to me and my watch is working and my battery has had H or full power since day one.

Casio PRO TREK error 'OP EN' Display frozen with the above msg. None of the buttons - except the light - works. Whats wrong .. battery charge shows FULL

The problems is very simple: On the back cover (inside) is a little Cu metal Part. This part is glued to back cover using a poor glue (rubbered glue) and, in time, is moving from original position. You must put back this parts to original positin ( a little hole inside of back cover) and glue using a good glue. When the back cover is mounted , this part must have a ferm contact with two springs from mechanism (sensor for back cover open). If beatwin this springs isn't a electric short (using Cu metal parts) the internal mechanism of watch "see" the back cover is open and show "OPEN" on screen!

I have a Casio Pathfinder PAG-70 that reads "OPEN" on the display where the date should be. It is a solar powered watch and shouldn't need a battery change. Any ideas?

The battery does NOT need replaced.
The word "Open" on this watch means that the sensor inside the back of the watch has detected that that the back is open. I ended up having to repair this problem myself after a local watch repair guy told me he didn't want to mess with it. You'll have to get a micro-philips screwdriver and remove a few screws and pop the end caps off to get to your problem.
After you have removed the screws and end caps inside the back there's a small spring that pushes against a copper disk glued to the back of the watch. The problem is that Casio has used a crappy glue to hold this disk in place and it needs to be removed and reglued to the back in it's proper place with super glue. It's a pain in the **** but I have repaired mine by doing this. BTW...I have found a video or another help for this fix on line so I won't go too much into it. Do a Google search and you'll find the step by step process listed elsewhere.

Yoy have to take off the back. Does the back have notches(5 of them) around the back cover? If it does take a pair of needle nose pliers and turn counter-clockwise to loosen. If the back has no notches then there must be a little lip where you have to pry off the back. Look carefully sometimes it is hard to see.. You have to use a sharp strong knife, like a swiss army knife, something that is sharp but has a little meat to it. Once the back is off, look at the movement. Now pull out the crown ( the part for setting the watch) and as you do, look for a metal piece that is in the movement (probibly to the derect left if you are right handed) that has a little dimple and moves as you pull in and out on the crown. Once you find that, use a small pin and LIGHTY push down on the that piece as you pull out the crown. The crown and a long piece should come out (the crown and the stem which are connected) You should be able to take out the movement now. Some advice: don't use super glue, it has gasses in it that will ruin your face of the watch.Maybe a model glue would be better, I being a watchmaker usr jewelers glue. Do not put the movement back in for about a hour just in case of any gasses. When done gently push the stem and crown back in and close the back. If you have any problems, please let me know. Maybe I can walk you through it. Good Luck!!!

Watch Repair

I would not recommend you attempting to try this at home, because you can severly damage your watch, but if you must, you will find that on the back of your watch relatively near the crown is a dimpled, small metal piece. Take a tweezer and push it in LIGHTLY while pulling out the crown.
