The defrost timer. Getting stuck in defrost. If its mechanical they are usually located bottom rear back of fridge or sometimes behind covers in the fridge roof. You can turn the little dial a bit and see if it turns back on. Could also be defrost termination sensor but unlikely.

My Samsung side by side RS2534WW is flashing 6 on freezer side and it feels like food is starting to thaw...what can I do?

needs to be minus-17 ..... 6 degrees should be fridge' temperature,
compressor may be hot and cut-out, pull away from wall at least 30cm and let some air to circulate behind to cool Compressor Motor
(possible Faulty Capacitor or Thermostat, )
it may also 'Reset' if turn fridge off for 10 minuites and back on again...have a listen and see if you can hear the Motor going?
if not.....I think your in Trouble!!!!

Kelvnator fridge motor clicks on and off repeatedly but not cooling it comes on roughly every 3 mins for about 4 seconds then clicks back off again. This fridge is over 20 years old and I'm not sure...

20 Years is a long time and we need to suspect quite a number of components. It is possible that the compressor is quiting as it overloads and then restarts when as the temperature is not maintained. Please check the capacitor to the motor, check the relay . Also if the pressure switch is faulty it can cut off. So a full check up starting with the compressor , the gas pressure and the electrical switching relay must be confirmed.

I have a Matsui MUL1107WW fridge and the motor appears to be cutting out when the fridge gets too cold. Is this normal ? or does the motor need looking at ?

The compressor motor only needs to run to cool the fridge down.
Once the fridge is cold enough the compressor motor will switch off.
The compressor will start again when the fridge warms up

It runs all the time

Switch the fridge off for some time till the frost clears off. make sure the compressor has cooled off before you start the fridge once again.Switch on and checck if there is any ICE formation in about 1-2 hours. If so your compressor, gas and performance is good.
Now we need to check to see if the thermostat is cutting off. Having kept the thermostat in normal mode , the compressor must cut off in less than 3-4 hours. If not the thermostat is faulty. Also if you look on if the fridge does not shut offf in baout 8-9 hours of running then your thermostat, timer can be suspects.
However if there is no cooling reached in the first place then it is possible that the compressor or the gas pressure is down.
Check for leak if the fridge is old before you waste money on filling and losing .

ITS NOT KEEPING FOOD COOL......LEAKING WATER FROM LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE. ICE CREAM MELTING

The model is not mentioned but I think that the fridge is defrosting from the evaporator to leak the water out.
Set your thermostat to normal and see if the fridge is cutting off when the ice forms.
If not switch off fride fully for about 6 hours and start again . If cooling is good then check for auto defrost timer, the thermostat or poor lining of the gasket .. faulty gaskets.
If food is not cooling then check on gas pressure, pumping of comrpessor., if poor reading change gas or overhaul compressor.
Estimate and decide.

Where can i find the defrost cycle in my freezer? The coils were frozen up so I have defrost everything with a hair dryer. The fan is working but I want to check the defroster.

This timer is generally located in the under the fridge in the front or back. It's generally looks link a small square box about 3 inches square with a single round slotted dial. When you locate the timer using a flat head screwdriver simply turn the dial until you hear the compressor turn off a click. If the fridge is not running you can open the door long enough to warm it up and get the compressor started then turn the switch to make sure you have the defrost timer in the defrost mode. I would also suggest that you check the fridge hourly and make sure that it has started running again after a few hours. If you have a faulty switch this could keep the fridge from starting again. If the switch is faulty and the fridge fails to start by itself then simply rotate the timer until the fridge starts.
Also if your fridge is opened a lot or you live in a high humidity area this too can cause excesive icing.
