I took apart my Ge dryer to put 3 in 1 oil on bearing now I can't get the front to lock back in place

My name is peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

First, you do not lubricated bearing in a clothes dryer. These are designed non lubricated bearings. When you lubricate the bearings they becomes seized up with lint and then you have real problems.

You have not provided any information on your model. So I can not instruct you.

Your model number is on a metal tag on the face or top of the door when you open the door.

Go into the following web site and put in your model number. You will have a diagram of your unit.

GE dyer DWSR483EG3WW is making a ginding noise on the fron right side (looking at dryer). I have replaced the four slides. It sounds fine for about 3 min, then the noise starts. Could the back bearing...

Hello Donna, it's hard to say without physically seeing it for myself, but I would say that you might need to replace the front bearing. Not just the slides, but the half moon looking piece that you put the slides on. They are easy to replace. this will help with the front bearing.

You should also check the rear bearing while you're at it. It can cause a bunch of problems as well.
You will be able to tell if it's worn by looking at it. You will however, need to pull the drum forward off of the rear to get to it. You dont have to remove the drum, just prop it up with a piece of wood while you look at the bearing. They are easily replaced as well. I would think that between the two, that should solve your problem. The rear bearing when worn, usually causes a squeeking sound. If the dryer is getting to the point where things are wearing out. It's always a good idea to check the others too.
this should help with the rear bearing....

Also, a parts list with diagrams:

I hope this helps you out. I will be happy to assist you further if you need it. I'm always happy to help. thanks,

Axial play in dryer drum

There is a bearing at the back middle of drum, and the socket in which it rides. (made of plastic].
Often when the exhaust is clogged or not venting properly it causes the plastic to melt wearing out the bearing.
There is a bearing kit with the complete beareing and socket but you will need to basically take the whole machine apart to rteplace these parts.

How do i oil the belts? The dryer squeaks every time its turned on?

You don't oil the belts on a dryer. This will cause the belt to slip on the motor shaft and/or drum. Oil permiated into the metal of the dryer drum can ruin it causing any replacement belt to slip as well.

If the dryer is squealing, you probably need to lubricate the idler pulley wheel at the axle point (also known as a tension pulley). If this is a GE model they usually have drum slides and a drum bearing that support the front of the dryer drum as well. When they wear down, they begin to make noise. The drum slides are made of teflon and not only help support the drum, but ensures it turns smoothy. You may need to replace both the drum slides and the drum bearing.

If the model number is correct, the part numbers are as follows:

Drum Bearing - WE3M26
Drum Slide - WE1M481 (Blue), WE1M333 (White)

Replacement parts (if required) can be found at the following websites:

The average cost of these components varies, so shop and compare. The first three websites I listed have helpful exploded view parts diagrams that can help you locate and properly identify the parts you need.

If you have any questions, or if your model number is different from the one you listed this question under, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

My dryer is squeaky. it's a GE model number DVL223EYOWW. how do I fix a squeaky dryer?

It depends on what is making the squeaking noise. Could be drum bearing, drum slides, tensioner pulley, pr even the leveling legs sometimes squeak.

Clothes dryer is squealing when turned on. suspect drum bearing. looking for a diagram for dismantling can i take the top off without removing the back panel( GE 5 cycle dryer)

You dont need a bearing you need the DRYER DRUM SLIDE Part number AP2041815 which is under $6.50 a piece. Take the top of the dryer off and look on the front of the drum. Some GE dryers have 2 and some have 4.Go to it item 316 they also have a diaphram.

Drum seal came out

I assumed there was a gasket on the top but there are 4 drum slides or glides on the top. They have worn out. I have to replace the top drum bearing piece(plastic, so it was wearing down)and install 4 drum slides(they are extra).Drum seal on bottom was ok.Ordered parts from appliance parts, they were 33% cheaper than manufacturer(GE).

Very likely the front support bearing is worn through and cracked there are also three drum slides that are positioned on the bearing which very likely worn to nothing and will need to be replaced as well. For model # NVLR333ET0WB replacement part numbers are:

Dryer drum causing squeak

Most likely the front support bearing. If this is the problem you will likely have to replace the slides too. The wizards have a ten year warranty. The bearing is part number WE3M26 and the slides probably need 3 or 4 of them are we1m333. Hope this helps.
