Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S40 Digital Camera
Posted by carmelwise on Mar 27, 2007Report abuse Hi I recieved the sony cybershot for christmas 2006. I believe I deleted something or messed up information on my computer because when I try to transfer the pictures from my camera to the computer they show up as red boxes with red X's inside of the boxes, that's where the pictures usually go. I need help I need to know what to do to fix this. Please someone help me Best Solutionposted on Jul 31, 2007 By jackboy Rank: Master Rating: 65.92%, 1247 votes If you have the camera software installed on the computer -remove it and let Windows do the work then come back Chemiker: I have a similar problem; the X's eventually turn to pictures, but I cannot get Windows to transfer the pictures out of the camera. I do not have the Sony software installed and have lost the CD to try. It started when I tried selectively keeping pictures stored on the camera. How can I refresh the camera and start new? The camera is no good as is.
Ok there are two possible answers to your problem. First and cheapest, go to Sony's website and purchase the CD directly from them. It only costs 5 bucks, and it can be nice to have around. Here is a link, http://servicesales.sel.sony.com/web/productSearch.do?searchOperation=partSearch&searchText=269613001 Secondly, you can purchase a Memory Stick reader($10) to plug into your USB port to unload the pictures without having to have the Sony's Software.
