How to fix a computer when the screen works but doesn't light up?

afaik, it happen when your screen flex cable is damaged. you need to replace the screen with the new one, because there is no way to fix the screen flex cable.

there is nothing wrong with your screen, the problem is from the flex that connects your screen to the phone's main board. This flex must have worn out that's why your screen is not displaying any picture.

The problem is common with flip and slide phones. The flex gets worn out as a result of constant opening and close of the flip or slide phone.

I would urge you to replace the flex and I am assuring you that your screen will display picture again. You might also be lucky to find out that the flex is not well fix, that is, it may have loosed contact.

If you cannot change the flex yourself, maybe you should take the phone to a local repairer within your vicinity, so that the flex can be fixed/replaced.

Most of the time, that cause of that flickering screen is a defective LCD flex cable or sometimes called LVDS cable (this is the cable that attaches the LCD panel to the motherboard - it can be caused by a loose connection or simply, it just may have worn out due to opening/closing the lid). The only way to fix that is to replace disassemble the computer and check if there's a loose connection on that LCD cable. If disconnecting / reconnecting the LCD cable doesn't fix the issue, you might need to replace it Disassmebly guides can be found here.

This handycam using 'fine' wires to connect the LCD and PCB. If this is the first time happen, the problem is usually there. I suggest you to get it fixed at sony dealer since this handycam is sensitive and need truly trained man to repair it.

Hi! Your flex cable may be broken (the part that connects the tho parts of the phone). It`s a cheap part and easy to replace in a service.

These problems HAve been related to a damaged flex cable.

This is the cable which in the U700 connect the lower part of the phone to the lcd part (with the screen, speaker, camera and touchscreen buttons). All the data such as screen images, camera pictures, speaker sounds pass through this cable from the main board which is located in the lower part of the phone.

Unfortunately, each time one opens the phone, the cable slides between the two part of the phone. In the long term, as the cable is thin and soft and this movement causes frictions between the cable and the parts, the cable consumes itself. the damage of the cable could results in weird effects on the phone.


In order to fix that you need to replace that part.
its easy.
just take the phone apart and locate the flex cable and replace it.
believe me you can do it yourself.

see if you can find it on eBay.

You can buy a new phone.....but I had the same exact problem with my motorola v3 phone. Every now and then both screens would work for a while and then turn completely black or sometimes white. Most of the time black. The keypads would light, I could make and receive phone calls, but I couldn't see anything on either screen. I moved all my contacts to the sim card and I got a new phone thru an upgrade with my company. But I was still determined to get the V3 to work again! I brought the phone to a few cell phone repairs shops and I was told that the connectors from the flex cable inside the phone sometimes get loose. Make sure they are tightly plugged in. If that doesn't help then the flex cable needs to be replaced. Some of these repair shops wanted up to $65.00 to replace the flex cable! I could replace the phone for much less than $65.00! So I decided to go to ebay and type in Motorola V3 Flex cable......hundreds of places came up that sell this flex cable. I found a place in my area and ordered one. It cost me $5.00 and I got it within 2 days! I looked online on how to install the flex cable and everything from how to disassemble the phone to installing the new flex cable and reassembling the phone was right there! I followed the instructions and I installed the new flex cable and the phone is as good as new!!! Both screens are working and I didn't loose any pictures or contacts from the phone!
All it cost me was $5.00 and about an hour of time! It even came with free shipping! Go to google and type in Motorola v3 black screen and look thru the solutions. Some of them will explain how to disassembe the phone and replace the flex cable with detailed pictures! You can buy the torque screw drivers at Home Depot or on ebay! Good Luck!

To replace that cable you have to disassemble the entire phone including the keyboard, screens and the lower part, then buy a new flex cable (this includes the keyboard, keyboard backlight, backlight driver, cover sensor, screen cable and connectors. all of this is part of one flex cable) and replace it.
You have a 70% chance of breaking the new cable even before getting the phone reassembled.

your phone has a problem with the flex cable go to a cellphone service and they will replace the flex cable and it should work just fine no need to buy a new one if u dont want to
