I found a solution in another question for a different fridge. I believe the solenoid that opens and closes the trap door for the ice is not functioning, causing the ice to either always crush or stay cubed, depending on the orientation of the metal rod that runs along the bottom of the ice bucket. Pull out the bucket and slightly twist this metal rod in the opposite direction, reinsert the bucket, and you should now have the opposite of what you had before (crushed vs cubed, vice versa). The solenoid should rotate this rod for you, but if it's busted then that doesn't happen. If you always use one type of ice, you'll be fine, but if you want to choose between crushed/cubed, you'll probably need to replace this solenoid.

Thanks God my refrigerator started to work after we turned off for 8 hours.

If refrigerator started to work after being turned off for 8 hours, I suspect that the evaporator was frozen and restricting air flow. Turning it off let the ice melt and it worked again. But when the ice builds up again the same thing will happen.

Think the problem lies with the self defrosting mechanism. Either the timer is bogus or the defrost heating element has gone South.

I have 70 psi water pressure at my street meter but only 50 psi or less at my house which is not more than 30 feet away with less than a 4 foot rise. What would cause such a drop in pressure?

Find the pressure regulator and adjust accordingly. It can be found between the street pressure gauge and the hom's pressure gauge. It is usually adjusts by turning a screw.

It not cooling

If the compressor is running you are more than likely low on freon. Also ck the fan under the back ofthe unit to make sure that it is running when the compressor is running if not it needs to be replaced. If the compressor is not running your timer may have went bad and the ref is in defrost mode. If you look on the back or under the backside of your ref or if you have your original paper work it should show you where the timer is located if not look under the front side first it will be an od shaped box with multiple wire plug running to it it will have a hole in the center of the plastic side that you can insert a flat blade screw driver and turn clockwise you will hear clicks if the ref does not kick on your problem may be your selector switch inside the ref sid of the unit. turn it off and slowly back on does it have an audible click if not its bad for sure. outside of these it could be your hi temp sensor in the frez side that controls the heater that defrosts your fzr side. All of this said its usually low on freon.

Not sure how to find actual length of hip rafters from plumb cut at ridge to birdsmouth at wallplate.I have 2 stanley quick squares but have misplaced the little instruction books.I would appreciate your...

Use Pythagorus. Measure the horizontal length from the plumb ridge cut to the position where the horizontal birds mouth touches the top plate on the wall closest to the ridge. This point should be 1 1/2" in from the outside edge of the wall. This is your run.
Now measure the vertical height from the top of your wall plate to the where the bottom of your vertical cut from the rafter will end up on your ridge. This is your rise.
A squared plus B squared equals C squared. Get your calculator out, if the run is 12 feet and the rise is 4 feet, then 12 squared (144) + 4 squared (16) equals 160. The square root of 160 is 12.65 ft. or 12 feet 7.79" long. There are other ways, but this is most accurate. Make sure your ridge is parallel to you wall.
