SOURCE: gas dryer will not heat up. Flame ignites on

If the ignitor clicks off after a few seconds of glowing bright orange, You know
that the flame switch mounted to the left of the burner tube is OKAY.

At the moment the click of the flame switch is observed, the burner valve should release gas for burner ignition. If the ignitor turns off with no ignition, and you are positive you're getting gas supply to the dryer, you likely will have to replace the two coil valve solenoids on the top of the burner.

The valve itself is extremely reliable and rarely needs replaced.
The two safety coils may gradually fail over weeks, or even months giving longer dry times and only partial heating. As safety coils are failing, they'll work fine for only a short amount of time, and then after about 30 minutes of cycling on and off to maintain the drum's temperature, they will break down and cease to open the valve leaving you with cool or wet clothing at the end of the cycle.

IF THE IGNITOR GLOWS, BUT NEVER CLICKS OFF you likely have a bad flame switch (flame sensor).

I think that the coil valve solenoids need to be replaced. They have to be replaced as a set. Here is a link of a video that might help you out.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqRNoyxnKhk The dryer may be different, but the procedure is basically the same for all gas dryers.

I really hope this helps you out. If it does, let me know. Even if it doesn't, I will be more than happy to try and help you figure out the problem.

Thanks,

Mike

So, i changed the ingnitor in my affinity gas dryer, it runs through the cycle now, but still no heat?

Most of the time it's the thermal fuse and not the ignitor. Check the fuse for continuity. It's the thin white fuse with 2 wires connected to it.

I have a prob to my gas dryer, the ignitor is posiible ignite but not heat

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

Either two things, if your ingnitor is working and the gas is not coming on, you have a gas control issue.
If the igniter is not coming on you just have a ignitor issue.

THIS IS A GAS PRODUCT, INCORRECT REPAIR CAN CAUSE A EXPLOSION, AND DEATH CAN OCCUR. IF YOU DO HAVE THE PROPER TOOLS SUCH AS MANOMETER AND LEAK DETECTORS, I SUGGEST YOU CONTACT A SERVICE COMPANY

I have a MD7600 maytag dryer. It runs but it will

when you turn it on give it a few minutes and see if you see a glow. that will be the ingnitor.if glowes low or dont see a glow at all then id say you have a bad ignitor. if you see a bright orange glow then id say your gas valve is bad. the ignitor is located next to the gas valve, usually their is a peep hole in the front of the dryer that you pop off (dime size cap) and you can look in hole and see if you see a glow. ignitor price roughly 20-50 dollars. vale can be pricey. 50-145.00 dollars part only. labor ingnitor 75-125 and for valve 85-165 depending on were you live and who you use. usually one or the other not both and seldom a thermostat could be bad.

I replced ingnitor in my kemore gas dryer but not flame

Hello Friend, If the igniter is glowing continally and not clicking off, then your therm-disc is definately bad. It's attached to the burner shroud right across from the igniter. It reads the heat off the igniter through a little rectangular hole in the shroud. Replace and problem should be solved.

If igniter is glowing and then cools down and then begins to glow again in a repeating manner then I would say that the thermo-disc is good and you need to replace the gas valve coils. coils are easy to change, they are located on top of gas valve, two screws hold them in place. An easy fix.

Happy to help, Tim.

Gas dryer/will not heat

If when you run it you smell gas please stop running it!
You should shut the gas valve off immediately anyway!
If the gas heater isn't working when your running it it's probably the Valve that activates the gas (Selenoid) or the Ingnitor that lights it!
It could be the burner which distributes the gas in which case you would smell gas.
My best guess......the ignitor!
