I did one of these and made a video: Here is my repair link:
2 old maytag dryers
If the link don't work just google 2 old maytag dryers. To get into the machine you remove two screws at the base of the front then get the front panel off, you can then raise the top. My video shows how it works and what to check, I will try to post it:

How to remove top and front panel on Maytag Dryer model MDE9206AYW

To access these parts you first need to first lift the top up. This is done by pressing the clips inward. These are located on the left and right side in between the top and front on the dryer. When this is done the top will left up and backwards. Next, on the upper inside there are two screws, usually 5/16" bolts, that will need to removed to take the front off. Now you'll will access to the inside of the dryer. The belt will have to be removed to to take the drum out to test the rollers.

1.Unplug the electrical cord of the Maytag electric dryer from the electrical outlet.
2.Open the dryer door and locate the four screws on the inside, unfastening the screws with a screwdriver.
3.Pull on the corners of the top front panel, rolling the corners forward to release the clips.
4.Tip the front panel straight out and slide it up until the panel comes loose of the clips.
5.Set the front panel aside and slide the top of the dryer forward.
6.Lift the top of the Maytag electric dryer up,tilting it back and resting it against the wall.

Top removal on maytag dryer

Not a brand I am used to, but there is usually some spring clips that need to be pushed forward. Usually in the crack between the front and the top, and can be shoved with a small flat screwdriver.

How to lift the top of Maytag perfoma PYE3300AYW?

You will only need a putty knife. Unplug the dryer. In between the front panel and top there are 2 clips holding the top down on the left and right side. The clips will need to be depressed one at a time toward the back of the dryer and lift up on the top at the same time. The thermal fuses are both located on the element mounting assembly on the back top of the dryer. They will measure 0 ohms if good. Click this link, schematic diagram, number 3 is a picture of one of the clips. They are located anywhere from 2 to 6 inches in from sides of the washer.
Thank you.

How to open top of dryer

On most all Maytag dryers (true Maytag dryers, not Whilpools brand), you access the dryer from the rear panel, not the top.

Maytag PYE2300 AZE electric dryer

Unplug the cord of the dryer before starting.

Raise top by placing a putty knife between top and front in the seam between the two about 2 inches in from each edge and lifting up at the same time. Raise top to full open position.

Look down inside the open top dryer at each side there will be a screw on each side a few inches down. Leaning against the front remove the two screw and pull the top forward a few inches and raise it from the supports at bottom then swing it aside protecting any wiring.

This will give you access to the underside of the dryer.

Reverse the disassembly process to reassemble the front and top being careful not to disconnect any wiring.
