HOW DO I GET SOUND

At the top of your keyboard you have some icons with pictures of some speakers. One shows 3 curves coming out of the speaker which signifies the loudest sound, another shows a speaker with just one curve in front of it which signifies low sound, and the 3rd speaker has an X on it which signifies no sound. Click on the speaker with the most curves to control the volume. Also, at the bottom of your monitor you have a picture of a speaker with curves in front of it. Click on that icon, and you will see how much sound you have. To make the sound louder, click on the bar with your mouse and raise it up to increase your sound. It should also tell you the percentage of the sound that you will hear. To lower the volume, click on the bar and lower it.

Volume icon missing

Which operating system ??

In Windows and on a Mac, you can use an icon shaped like an audio speaker to adjust the computer's volume or mute the sound output completely.

Whichever operating system you are running, it is possible to remove the volume icon from the screen.

If you have removed the volume icon accidentally, you may not have a convenient way to adjust your computer's sound volume.

Restore the sound icon to resume using it to adjust the volume or mute your computer's sound output.

Click the "System Preferences" icon on the dock.
If you have removed this icon from the dock, click the Apple icon at the top of the screen, then click "System Preferences."

Click the "Sound" icon in the "System Preferences" window.

Place a check in the box at the bottom of the window labeled "Show volume in menu bar."

Acertravelmate4000 got it used, don,t know how to turn off mute, turn on or up volume

The volume may be muted. In Windows, look at the volume
control (speaker) icon on the taskbar. If it is crossed-out, click on
the icon and deselect the Mute option.
The speakers may be turned off. Press Fn-F8 to turn the speakers
on (this hot key also turns the speakers off).
The volume level may be too low. In Windows, look at the volume
control icon on the taskbar.
Fn-? Volume up Increases the sound volume. Fn-? Volume down Decreases the sound volume.

If this helps u let me know
regards

My computer will no longer play music or any kind of noise

Check that your speakers are plugged into the right jack either in your sound card or the sound panel on the motherboard. If no sound then try plugging speakers into another computer and see if they are working and have power. Go to "control panel" and click on "Sound and Audio Devices" and under the volume tab under Device Volume make sure that the "Mute" box isn't checked. Also check the "place Volume icon in the taskbar" box if it isn't already checked. Go to the Volume control on the task bar and check out the audio volume levels and make sure they're not turned all the way off. Also under "Sound and Audio Devices" underl Volume tab click on "Advanced" and make sure that you have selected the proper kind of speakers in the speaker setup box.

YOu didn't say so, so I'm assuming that you're using Windows XP. If you're not the menus may be a little different but similar.
