T30 led's I just attempted to replace my LCD screen. My parts T30 had a screen capable of more resolution. Well it didn't work. The screen would backlight, but nothing else. So I put the old screen back but now I have lost all of my green LED's for indicating charge, hard drive in use, caps lock etc. What's the deal with that? any ideas.

Yes, this is most definitively realted to this small "inverter board". Perhaps the flatcable is torn due to the mechanical work, or one of the connectors is out. Careful: the invertor board generates High Voltage to power-up your TFT lighting. Btw, are you aware of any place where I can buy a T30 TFT XGA 14.1" 1024x768 as a spare part? I am looking for normal prices, what I found thusfar was way too high... Thaks for any hints. Peter pfrank a hetnet . nl

The Screen turns black when I attempt to start windows normally. It sounds like windows is starting, but nothing appears on the screen

It sounds like windows has been set to a screen resolution beyond the limits of the capabilities of the built in LCD. Luckily windows has a menu that allows you to change to a highly compatible low resolution mode. To select this mode, start tapping the [F8] key just after the HP/Compaq screen when the computer switches on. Hopefully if you pushed the button in time, you should be presented with a menu. Use the up and down arrows on the keyboard to select the option that says either "Enable VGA Mode" or "Enable Low Resolution Video (640x480)".

Windows should now load, but everything will look extra large. To fix this, go into your display properties (right click on desktop and select either "properties" or "screen resolution"), and choose the recommended screen resolution.

Can i replace my Gateway laptop tft screen with a new lcd screen?

The screen resolution is a combo of:
  1. the screen's capability
  2. the video card's capability
  3. the driver's settings
If the above screen is made for this laptop (as it appears to be), then the settings you had should still be there.

When the cursor is moved to the right or to the bottom of the screen, the entire view shifts left or up and a garbleb image aoppears.

If the screen picture moves then you have the wrong resolution set for your monitor and part of it is extending beyond the monitors capabilities. This is common if using a laptop.
Try going into you display properties on your computer and lower the resolution of the display.
If you search your monitor model, you should find the resolution that it is capable of.
1600x1024 may be the maximum. (not all video cards support all resolutions so you may have to choose another widescreen format)

video card may not be capable of that resolution and color depth, check your video cards max resolution and color depth.
I have several lcd monitors that are 1280x 1024 and they do not need drivers to work. the video card must be capable of generating that resolution.

Resolution 16-10

Your resolution is based on your video cards capabilities. If your still using the original on-board, integrated video I doubt if you'll be able to reach such resolution. Open control panel, open Display. Click the Settings Tab. You will notice Screen resolution & there is a slide bar. Sliding the bar to More will increase the resolution. You'll see what the max is for your video card. As to your LCD monitor it's max resolution is capable of reaching 1680x1050. Keep in mind the word " capable ".
If you need that kind of resoluton you'll need to find a AGP video card that can go that high.
