Question about IBM ThinkPad T30 2366 Notebook

2 Answers

T30 led's I just attempted to replace my LCD screen. My parts T30 had a screen capable of more resolution. Well it didn't work. The screen would backlight, but nothing else. So I put the old screen back but now I have lost all of my green LED's for indicating charge, hard drive in use, caps lock etc. What's the deal with that? any ideas.

Re: T30 led's

Yes, this is most definitively realted to this small "inverter board". Perhaps the flatcable is torn due to the mechanical work, or one of the connectors is out. Careful: the invertor board generates High Voltage to power-up your TFT lighting. Btw, are you aware of any place where I can buy a T30 TFT XGA 14.1" 1024x768 as a spare part? I am looking for normal prices, what I found thusfar was way too high... Thaks for any hints. Peter pfrank a hetnet . nl

Screen Positioning in HDMI LCD connections

When you say "Projection" do you mean a portable LED projector? If you mean an LCD flat panel display, then you will probably find the resolution you need is more likely to be 1440x900. But, just because your screen says 1366x768 doesn't mean the video output will fill the screen.

Inspiron 1764, dropped it, broke screen replaced screen 1600 x 900 which is supposed to be correct screen , but I the max resolution my computer will display is 1024 x 768

You didn't buy the correct screen if your old screen display different resolutions. There are so many screens that will work for a particular model, but when it comes to resolutions, there's the difference. Look on the back of your old screen and try to match it up with one that has the same model/part number.

Vertical lines appear on my Thinkpad T30 screen, making it difficult to see or read anything from the screen. What can/should I do get this problem solved?

Try Pressing and holding different parts of the screen see if image sticks if not this means your LCD screen is bad and you should replace it.

The Screen turns black when I attempt to start windows normally. It sounds like windows is starting, but nothing appears on the screen

It sounds like windows has been set to a screen resolution beyond the limits of the capabilities of the built in LCD. Luckily windows has a menu that allows you to change to a highly compatible low resolution mode. To select this mode, start tapping the [F8] key just after the HP/Compaq screen when the computer switches on. Hopefully if you pushed the button in time, you should be presented with a menu. Use the up and down arrows on the keyboard to select the option that says either "Enable VGA Mode" or "Enable Low Resolution Video (640x480)".

Windows should now load, but everything will look extra large. To fix this, go into your display properties (right click on desktop and select either "properties" or "screen resolution"), and choose the recommended screen resolution.

My T30 turns on but the screen doesnt work?

Try to attach EXTERNAL MONITOR to check if you have display from External Display and to confirm that your Laptop System is still working. If you got display from external monitor, therefore you have a faulty LCD / Inverter (gives your LCD a back-light)
