Hotpoint aquarious wd 440 two years old tripping main board

Hi,
This washer trips the house main board when a program is selected, it does not trip when just the washer on off switch is pressed lighting up the washer panel although it will switch off on its own after a short period and will not switch back on again for some time. The filter is clear, the drum turns and the plug socket works ok with other loaded appliances without tripping. Is this a common problem with this washer as its obviously shorting out or leaking to earth somewhere ?
Thankyou for taking time to answer Rick

Hi Ben Thank you for replying to my question.

Actually the washer was empty with no program selected when i switched it on. The panel lights up but goes off after a short period and does not come back on for quite some time. When a program is selected it trips the main board. Some one else has come up with the same answer as yourself so i am off to in investigate the problem !

    I will return !! Rick

A faulty heater in both a washing machine and dishwasher will trip swithes because they both cause an earth........the chances are you heater needs replacing......the reason its tripping after a short period is probably beacause the cycle doesnt start heating the water until after approx 15-20 mins depending on the cycle chosen

My wd640 trips after a second of pressing start,

I am not a repair professional. I am just a 78 year old
man who has been making his own repairs for about
50 years. Therefore the dryer ID doesn't mean very
much to me. Over the years, I haven't had much
trouble with my dryers. However I can refer you to
www.applianceaid.com where they have very good
trouble shooting and repair information on dryers and
other appliances. I think you'll find what you need
there. If you have an error code you can probably
find the meaning of it there. Good luck with it.
If I have helped you, please rate my advice on fixya.

My aquairius hotpoint washer dryer wd62 keeps tripping electric why

Remove top cover, and unplug motor, try it, and if it does not trip, then motor is causing prob.
If it still trips, then heater is probably causing problem.
Please rate my advice.
Thanks.

Dishwasher trips the fusebox.

You have a obvious short circuit.
Remove the lower panel and inspect the drain valve solenoid attached to the pump beside the motor.
These GE solenoids will stick and melt causing a short circuit.
If not that, open the front panel and inspect all wires for a break.

Turn washer dryer on ok, then close door then curcuit trips

check the wiring and make sure nothing metal is on the motor because your dryer has a short in it somewhere

Machine fuses house RCD if a drying cycle is selected

Suggest you turn the power off, remove the top cover, diconnect the live and neutral connections to the dryer element (likely to be two of each flavour of connection if the machine has high and low dry settings). Pop a bit of insulating tape around the wire ends so you don't short anything out. Now try to put the machine through a drying cycle. If it works (albeit cold) without tripping the house power, you need a new dryer element. If the house power still trips, turn the power off again and without reconnecting the element wires, disconnect and tape the live and neutral wires from the blower motor. Again, try to run a drying cycle. If this stops the house power tripping, then it looks like a motor problem (though this would be quite unusual). If the house power still trips, you need to have a careful look at all the wiring between the main timer, the dryer timer, any hi/lo heat switch, the blower motor and the element with its associated thermostats and thermal cutouts (all located near the element on the air duct). Look in particular for chafes where wires go round corners, and where wiring crosses from the case to the suspended machinery in the middle of the machine. Pop any follow-on queries in the comments section of this question - I'll keep half an eye on it. A.
