Question about Taylor Ice Cream Makers

Taylor soft serve c712 ice cream grainy

I have a taylor soft serve machine c712. After 2 days of stripping down and cleaning the ice cream starts getting grainy. The door also builds up with butterfat. I have brand new blades in the machine so that is not the problem. Any suggestions??

SOURCE: Taylor Y754-27 Soft Serve Ice cream machine

gearbox is sealed, I've never replaced one.check belts could be too tight, does it scream when you start it. check bearing at end of barrel sharp edge means needs replacing. check temperature of product disspensed on loud side could be too cold. adjust on board or needs new probe, inexpensive but a ***** to install.

Taylor c712 with pumps one side sounds like it is pumping and looks like its pumping but when you use it there is no mix in the barrel

Hi Megan,
The first thing I would do is tear the machine down, sanitize and rebuild and properly lubricate everything. If you have a spare kit, you should install all new pump o rings and seals (Parts 4, 5, 6, 8 and 14 in the schematic). Hopefully, it is either improperly lubricated o ring, or a worn out seal and that will fix it.

The plastic pump parts do wear out over time (Parts 3 and 4) and so do the stainless steel pump sleeves (Part 1). If seals and lubrication don't correct the issue, you can start looking closer at the pump parts.

I have the tune up kit available here.

Poor Overrun on Taylor 162-12

You cannot change the overrun on a Taylor 162. Once you've properly primed the machine and installed the feed tubes, the viscosity or how firm the product is.

I do not know of any soft serve machine that will give you an 80% overrun. You can adjust the overrun on a Taylor pressurized machine like the 8756 or the C712, but I believe the limit is somewhere around 40%.

You can email me tex@softserveparts.com or call 1-800-879-7839 if I can answer anymore questions for you.

I have a Taylor C713 Ice Cream Machine. IT has been working great until a few days ago. We had it in standby overnight and when we came back the next morning, the ice cream in one side was rotten from...

Those are symptoms of the mix refrigeration system being undercharged. You will need a refrigeration technician to add refrigerant.

In Taylor soft serve machines when the left side hopper (standing in front of the machine) is icing up and the right side hopper is not cold enough, the problem is low refrigerant in that system. It takes R134A.

This particular Model C712-33 goes into a heat cycle every 24 hours depending to pasturize the mix ,usually good for two weeks. Then the machine must be brushed cleaned. The timer can be disabled as to allow for regular operation.
