The generator will not hold the load.

Confirm that the ECO-Throttle Switch is in the off position. When in the ECO mode the unit goes into an idle condition and when detecting a load will spin up to operate the load.

In the off position the unit will remain in the ready for load speed taking the initial load with less hesitation.

If this does not solve the problem it is likely the carburetor has some old fuel residue. This residue restricts the fuel flowing through the carburetor. Suggest using a fuel additive carburetor cleaner added to fresh fuel and allow the unit to run under load for an extended period. These gas treatment products are readily available at any auto parts store.

These carburetors have no adjustment for fuel mix and after trying fresh fuel and cleaning the fuel system with additive the only remaining choice would be cleaning or replacing the carburetor.

Does this cable have a small lead end ? Turn it vertical and slide it
into a spiral shape on carburetor the cable should pass through a groove facing the operators handle. Don't cut the lead end in anyway it won't work for you if you do.

I have the MightyLite 26bv....will only run at half choke. When turn knob to run, it dies. Does not reach full power ever.

The parts inside the carburetor need to be replaced (gasket and diaphragm kit) and/or the L and H screws need to be adjusted on the carb. Try grasping and turning the L mixture screw on the carburetor (one closest to engine) about 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn counterclockwise.

Purchased generator last year, used one time and it will not start.

Will not start.
Running it only one time Is the problem.

-Remove soak and clean high-speed jet in Carburetor and clean float valve in Carburetor.

-Do not use fuel with ethanol.

-Use a fuel inhibitor with your fuel. this will keep the fuel from braking down.

-When your done running the Gen-Set for the season fill tank and treat it with a fuel stabiliser and turn off fuel valve and let the gen set run out of fuel. This will ensure that fuel is not going to evaporate in the carburetor.

Hope this tip helps.

I spray carb fluid into the air intake and it runs. As soon as I stop spraying the carb fluid it stops running?

Hi, Making sure the gas is turned on,
Well the engine is not getting gas. If you have old gas in the unit the gas may have "jelled". A emptying of the tank and cleaning of the fuel line along with taking the bowl off the carburetor and spraying upwards into the carburetor, including around the float and needle and seat, may work. As always the carb cleaner is flammable so caution is good. Luck to you.

My mtd tradesman lawn mower does not run smooth. where is the idle mixture adj. screw? the engine is the tecumseh 5.5 hp model #VLV55 501029A(D)

These engines do not have an idle mixture adjustment. Most of the problems with them not running right are from bad gas, water in fuel, or carburetor jet deposits. If your fuel is ok, then you'll want to clean the carburetor metering hole. You'll want to either empty the fuel, or clamp the fuel line, but after that, take the nut off the bottom of the carburetor bowl. You will see holes both in the sides, and through the middle. Use a wire to clean these out, and some acetone or carburetor cleaner to get the rest of the deposits out, and you should be fine.
