Toshiba laptop won't work with new optoma projector

My Toshiba M35X laptop will not project the screen to the wall using a new Optoma EP716 projector. I've followed all the directions in hooking it up, including not cutting on the computer until after the projector has been turned on (and tried it the other way just to check and see if that would work). I'm trying to project a powerpoint presentation on the wall. The projector goes through the searching mode, but doesn't detect my laptop.

Re: toshiba laptop won't work with new optoma projector

-toggle the laptop display using the FN keys and F5 I believe. -lower laptop resolution to 800 x 600 -look in laptop display properties for lcd or external display settings, see if it (external crt) has to be enabled on the laptop first.

Just purchased a refurbished optima ep716 projector won't synch-keeps rolling through search mode - I have it connected using the SCART setting.

Reduce the screen resolution of your computer monitor to 800 x 600 and check. Let us know the result.
Optoma is a SVGA projector. i.e. the maximum resolution supported by your projector is 800 x 600.

I have an Optoma EP716 projector. It has run for

either the lamp has/is going to expire, or the ballast is bad. if the lamp has bulges or black spots on the inside, replace the lamp and clean out your projector with canned air. too much dust keeps in the heat and makes a 2000 hour lamp go in 1100 hours.

There is no fuse. I took my EP 716 apart to find out why it died. I found a resistor had blown on the power board made by the Tiwan co. Quazarpower.

My optoma ep716 is unable to communicate with my laptop

Hi there

Right click on your desktop and go to properties , then go to settings and check if your resolution matches that of your Projector's i.e. - 800x600 for SVGA or 1024x768 for XGA

Also check in the advanced settings if your secondary screen is activated.

Then hold down the Fn ( Function button - located just left of you space bar at the bottom row of buttons ) and press in your F-row buttons the one with a screen or two screens - at the same time.

This pushes the siganl to the Projector if it doesn't pick it up automatically.

Optoma EP716 source detection

It sounds like your module that controls the menu and the "cycling through" may not be in sync or may needs to be replaced. I had times have had to make sure the Optoma EP716 had to be first plugged in and "on" before the PC can communicate with it. Once the Optoma is "ON", then turn your PC/Notebook on. If there is no connection via USB, "S" cable and/or your VGA (be sure your PC/Notebook is set to have the external VGA "active"). Let me know if this works or not. Then we can try to move forward with other options for troubleshooting. long have you had this multimedia and how many hours of use does it have?...JGUAM
