I have a Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5895 Notebook that I have connected to my Toshiba 37AV502U Hi Def LCD tv. I believe it is monitor ready, b/c all images are transferring to tv screen, but the audio will not come out of the tv...only out of the built in comp. speakers. I did buy an audio cable along with the neccessary cable needed to connect pc to tv in the first place. Audio cable is in the headphone jack on pc going into the pc audio in on tv, but still the only sound I'm receiving is from the computer. I'm not the most computer savvy, but am also not stupid....why isn't this working???? SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!
Had this same problem with my A215-S7416. Check the sound settings in the control panel. You most likely have a Realtek HD sound card, but have Microsoft drivers installed. The Microsoft drivers also provides a default selection for either the speakers or headphones. The Realtek driver only displays setting for the speakers. Go to the Toshiba support website, enter your model and check to see if there are Realtek HD sound card drivers. If so, download and install. That's how I solved the same problem you have with my machine. Good luck.
Do you see a small audio jack next to rgb connector? hook your audio cable (3.5mm mini plug) to this. ought to do it. regards kindly, meder's tv
