SOURCE: Power outage occurred. Upon power back on Dishwasher has high pitch tone and no lights and it will not do anything but make sound.

A power surge has occurred unfortunately. this surge has fried the control module and, you will need to replace this module asap.

I would check the motor as well. it may have took a hit as well. test the continuity of the element as well.

SOURCE: high oitch noise during wash

As motor bearings wear out, they can become quite loud when the motor runs. They wear out quickly if they frequently get wet, because the water washes away the motor bearing grease. Bearings can get wet if the spin seal is defective. Then there will also be water leaking onto the floor beneath the dishwasher. Replace the seal if it leaks (read about the main tub seal in the "It leaks" section, later). If, from beneath the dishwasher, you can see a round, plastic disc that's mounted to the top of the motor (a "slinger"), it may have broken free of the motor shaft. If so, it could be rattling around the shaft while the motor is running. If that's the problem, you need to replace the motor.
If the heater fan bearings are rusted or worn, they may squeal, or scrape loudly during the drying cycle. If this is the problem, replace the fan motor. Alternatively, the fan blade may be loose. If so, you need to replace it.

SOURCE: Our LG LDF7920st dishwasher (6 months old)makes a whistling noise

Hey, consider the float assembly!

We bought this dishwasher and ran it for the last 1 1/2 months and it made a grinding and whistling sound from day one (it's supposed to be nearly silent in its operation). Turns out the drain pump was cutting in while the machine was still filling, thereby emptying the wash tub of any water. Then, when the cycle proceeded to wash, the dumb thing had no water and made a horrible noise. So I had to pitch in at least 2-3 litres of hot water, and then it worked quietly! Had to do this every time there was new water intake.

After working with the repairmen - four visits later, we isolated the float assembly as the problem and they set about replacing the part. Turns out the two parts were markedly different. LG HAD INSTALLED an older model float assembly at the factory and it was the problem. The replacement part was the correct float assembly and things worked perfectly after that - thank goodness. No more babysitting the dishwasher.

Don't let anyone tell you the motor assembly needs replacement. I have seen that cop-out 'fix' all over the web. But use deductive reasoning to find out where the problem is in the cycle, and explore this option first - it's a quicker and cheaper fix than replacing the whole motor assembly.

'Mr. Float' as he is now called works like this:
-expels any residual water in the tub from the last wash
-intakes water for the wash or rinse
-whirs 2-3 times prepping for the cycle
-begins to wash, quietly
-expels at the end of the wash or rinse.

He used to:
-expel residual water
-intake new water for wash or rinse
---drain pump would cut in WHILE still filling
-machine would whir once, realize it didn't have enough water
-perform a brief top-up intake shot
-begin to wash and whistle and GRIND (this is where I would have to add the water)
-expels water from wash or rinse, and start all over again.

It's a good dishwasher and it will work, but the right model parts have to be in place!

SOURCE: makes noise during wash cicles and dishes are not cleaned

Hi Kenneth Cho - I will suggest verifying that there is enough water pressure coming into the unit. Is the unit making a grinding noise? If it is, then the dishwasher seems to have a defective drain motor. When was the last time the filter was cleaned? Do you noticed if the spray arm will rotate freely or if it is damaged? If so, you might have to remove and replace the spray arm assemblies. If any proves to be ineffective, it could possibly have a communication problem coming from the main control board, I would suggest contacting a professional technician to diagnose the unit accurately.

    Whisling power pack

hi, what do you mean by power pack?
if you are saying that when you charge the battery it makes a noise of high frequency, if it isn't too loud, it can be normal, it is due to the electronics inside, but if too loud, it is a sign of a dying capacitor !

    Whistle noise

A whistling noise can be generated by an alternator at high RPM's and indicates a slip ring brush problem or a diode failing . It resembles a frequency whistle.. IT may also be from a leaking gasket and a partially blocked exhaust system from a failed cat converter and at speed and power, the exhaust gas is forced out the hole

Hello Stacey, thank you for your post!

I understand the unit recently experienced a power outage. First, let's try reprogramming the dishwasher. This can be done by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker to the off position. It is necessary to wait roughly ten minutes and then turn the appliance on. If resetting the power does not correct the issue, your unit could be experiencing a communication error with the control board, or a potential wiring failure. I recommend reaching out to an appliance expert who is best equipped to pinpoint the exact problem, which can often save you funds and a headache.

Infocus projector makes a whistling sound then shuts off

The whistling is nothing but noise. You need to open the projector to confirm the source of noise. It can either be mechanical or electronic. Possibility of mechanical noise sources are colour wheel (a 4 colour wheel near the lamp), blower fans & exhaust fans. All these are rotating things. If any one of them is jammed, then so as to try to rotate at full speed creates noise. To reduce mechanical noise it is necessary to service them. Dust is one of the main reason. For electronic noise check SMPS (Switched Mode Power Supply) & lamp ballast (electronic choke). The electronic noise is a high frequency noise generated by such devices. Are you using the projector in dusty envionment?

High pich sound comes from the connection and the back of the TV. If I press on the back of the TV it can help quiet the noise.

The noise can be caused by a ferrite bead "whistling" at a harmonic of the line frequency or power supply frequency. It can also be caused by line coils rattling. The fix can be as simple as nail varnish on the offendig component.
If you are going to attempt a repair. Be very careful!!

Our Loewe Aconda has a high pitch noise when you turn the tv on for about two minutes. thanks

If it sounds almost like a whistling sound but high frequency it can be many different causes. My two first "suspects"would be the powersupply.Usually a transistor. Then at the High Voltage area that supplies the screens brightness. It can be lots of things. It can be the High Voltage transformer that has a dry joint.Best is to take it to repair shop so they can open and do few tests.

Whistling noise on earpiece when on a call. Not all the time.

this can be caused by a few things, depending on the type of phone and where it is....if the phone has a built in amplifier, the whistling could be caused by acoustic feedback due to the volume level being set too high, also your phone could be picking up some stray frequencies from somewhere, eg flourescent lights, or radio frequencies, a hearing aid, or there could even be fault on the phone line.... sorry to seem so vague, but without more specific information were fishing for clues.

    Fridge is whistling

Mine was making a moaning, whistling noise coming from just above the ice maker. It happened when the fan speed changed. I learned on this site that the motherboard was probably defective.
Rather than go thru GE, we found a new one online for 66 bucks. I replaced it in about ten minutes and it's all fixed. Poor materials on the original, but this site was very helpful.
