SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Ask at some public schools or libraries for some ESL classes you can take.
ESL means "English as a Second Language".
In most cities and many towns. these classes are free.

Good used car for DIY repair?

Depends on what age vehicle you want to drive. I currently drive a 2002 Grand Marquis. Parts are available used and new and those built before "Cam Phasers" are less of a problem.
I understand the S-10 Chevy pickup has simple Electronics.
But as you point out Rust as a factor in scrapping older cars, I recently traveled through Arkansas and saw many Restoreable 60"s Chevy Short-bed trucks in small cities off the Interstate.
There are publications like "Classic Car Trader" and the Internet. But if you plan to travel with it, parts availability for Emergency repairs may be a factor to consider.
As new cars get more Modularized, many parts were eliminated and rolled into one Module. Consider no Distributor or points, Electric fuel pumps versus mechanical, there are less parts to break.
Now we need a really good Scanner to do stuff for us. I share your concern for the Electronics. If your Vehicle has to be tested for Emissions, only a few States offer a waiver. So they have it rigged against rebuilding your car to OLD SCHOOL standards.
There are some really weird instances like Wheel rims. The diameter of each stud changed within the 1999 Ford Truck model year. Then lugs were increased from 5 to 6 per wheel.
For vehicles with optional Disc Brakes, the wheel offset was changed for Disc Brakes. So going to a Salvage yard for parts becomes more difficult for simple things.
Many Performance shops have closed. Schools have stopped Teaching Machining, equipment is expensive to buy and repair. Demand is way down because little can be changed.
So Good Luck in your search.

Oil change

There are several schools of thought on this. Some say you should change your oil every 3000 miles; others say every 6000 miles is fine. In any case you should change it every 3 months.,
