Safe way to vacuum drywall dust

SAVE THAT VAC

One of the hardest things on a shop vac is drywall dust. It is so fine that it gets through the regular filter and destroys bearings/bushings and ruins the motor. Just the other day, a friend commented that he had to get a longer hose as his vac was blowing out a lot of drywall dust because the filter was slipping down!

High performance filters are available at most hardwares and box stores. They resemble the paperbag filters in carpet vacuums and catch the drywall dust so that the bag can just be thrown away when done. The bag is U-shaped to install in the shop vac and have clearance around the regular cartridge filter. The inlet has a rubber seal that pushes around the inlet on the inside of the tank. Just run the vac normally but spare it and your lungs!!!

Miele upright vacuum makes loud noise and dust comes out at bottom

It sounds to me like one of the hoses is plugged, probably the one that comes from the brushroll. That would make the dust and dirt come back out the front and would not let the vac pick up like normal. Clear the plug and you're machine should start cleaning better again.

Rainbow e series shooting out dust

Did you place water in the water pan? Are you picking up drywall dust, baby powder, wood ash, etc.? This type of material is difficult to be trapped by water.

Was vacuuming sheetrock (drywall) dust and the water boiled over and shut off the vacuum. Any hope for it?

The water boiling could indicate the motor getting too hot. Remove the seperator and clean it with a wire brush. Then wipe out the inside to get the dust out. Let it sit a while then try it. Chris

There are no known vacum bags for a model wd06350 vac

This type of vacuum does not use a bag. If you are worried about clogging the filter cartridge try using a paper filter for a shop-vac. They are relatively cheap and are available at most hardware and department stores. These are made to simply wrap around the big cartridge. A rubber band will hold it in place.

Troubleshooting

Plug the hose into the other side of the unit. One end pushes air and the other side draws in the air. Now drywall dust will clog your filter quickly. Clean the filter often. Do not clean dust without the filter. It will get all over everything!
